The only trouble I have with this is "who won the latest College WS"? What I'm trying to say is its not what you have on paper, it's what you get out of the guys once on the field. This brings to mine coaching (teaching) and managing.

With the draft being later now, does a team’s portal signings, affect your top HS recruits decision on going pro or going to college.
Suppose you have 2 top 100 HS pitchers committed to Tennessee. Suddenly 2 very good Soph pitchers are willing to portal in. Does this have any bearing on their decision to go pro? Supposed it’s middle infielders, catcher, or really any position.

I think it could certainly play into the overall decision of some—especially if player feels he’s blocked. With that said, I’d want incoming players to have the confidence and mindset to want to compete for their spot regardless of the competition.

Well the team that won is on this list…as are 5 of the last 6 national champions…and the other 3 have made Omaha within the last 4 years.

I still think the 24 team would have crushed this field. I think they’d have slaughtered Oklahoma. That’s two years where a very mid team won the CWS.

Also, another reason that MLB should stop drafting out of high school. The washout rate is huge and quite frankly, college will sort out a lot of this.

2023 LSU and 2024 Tennessee are the only teams I knew would win the whole thing prior to Omaha. Not sure why Wake Forest was the 1 seed in 2023. While LSU was actually the 2 seed.

Because of the Pitching Factory, Duh....haha
When they landed Burns it seemed like a no brainer. Burns was a guy that cared more about personal accomplishments more than the team. No one knew how insanely talented our offense was and the remaining pitching was solid, particularly the bullpen arms who knew how to get outs.

Burns leaving allowed super VFL Zander Sechrist a chance to shine. A blessing in disguise…

In 2024, the Vols played only national seeds in Omaha.(FSU, UNC, FSU, ATM,ATM, ATM)
In 2025, LSU played only one (Arkansas)
In 2026, Oklahoma played on national seeds (Alabama, UGA, UGA, UNC, UNC, UNC)

Admittedly, Alabama had no business being a national seeds, but they were.

Being a national seed doesn’t make you as good as previous year’s teams. Weak field this year. 2024 UT would have obliterated that field. 5 players who hit 20 plus HRs. One who hit over 30. 8 who hit double digits. 160 doubles. 5 starters who hit over .300.
