Was that kid on his cell phone? No damn respect from kids at all.

But to the point, you can't let your frustrations get to you and pound the back of the kids head like that.

Poor lady ruined her entire career doing that. You can't be smacking kids like that

And she's probably been flipping out like that for awhile. Somebody obviously knew what was about to happen, so they got their phone out to capture the train wreck.

Looks like complete frustration coming out. You can hear her say "because you're keeping them from graduating.". Then the kid looks up with a big grin on his race at the end. The teacher has obviously lost control. It's sad for everybody.
Twitter videos tell me my computer won't play them so if the kids grinning at the end of it why does it say the teacher was mocking the kid crying?

The kid asked "why you did that?" As if he doesn't know exactly why he got smacked. Then the teacher mocks him and the kid looks at the camera and grins. She wasn't exactly standing over a bawling, injured kid.

Media play on actions for a better story. Shocker lol.

to be fair, at 63, she may have been close to calling it a career and retiring

Also it's a good thing for the Catholic church that cell phones and twitter and snapchat didn't exist in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Every nun teacher would be in jail for battery with a ruler

the kid getting hit is on his phone, the kid recording it is on his phone...doesn't seem like the kids care at all and she just hit her breaking point

also she probably wouldn't have mocked him if he didn't say "why did you did that"

She shouldn't have done that, and that kid probably shouldn't be in school. The lunatics are running the asylum.

I'm asking for permission to post my commentary on this. I have a very simple explanation and solution for this type of behavior. It will not be PC, however. Is that OK?

The moron reporter got the whole story wrong - which isnt surprising - I didnt see anywhere in the video that the kid was crying - funny how all these inner city kids can afford cell phones and the stupid school districts allow them during class.

Lol... I'd be lying if I said the same thought didn't cross my mind in this case.

The way she attacked him makes me wonder if one of the kids goosed her as she walked by.

In that case, I will let it go without saying... for now.

But I may want to chime in on this if I see it going off the tracks and the proper blame isn't placed on the right people.

Do I have your permission to do so if the time comes?

It's interesting to read the comments on different websites regarding this story. Very few are neutral.

In other words, either those posting are nearly 100% defending the student and making comments about how the teacher should be fired ("she would be if she were black and the student were white"), or the teacher should be beaten as much or worse than how she slapped the student, and thus condoning more violence.

Or, they are mostly supporting the teacher with comments about how the student deserved it, the teacher should be recognized for having the nerve to address a disruptive student, the parents are the problem which is why the student shows no respect in the classroom, etc.

It seems somewhat human nature that in examples like this there is typically a "good/bad" or a "wrong/right" perspective, when in reality it would seem that in this case there is simply just "bad" and/or "wrong". The teacher was clearly out of line with her actions and words, and the student (based on comments in the video) was also being disruptive.

It would be nice if examples like this led to more agreement of generally bad behavior by both sides, instead of taking one side over the other.
