TBA Student Seating Cuts

Total cr@p, but the bottom line is the Benjamins. They should let all the students in to keep the madness of the atmosphere. The rest of the crowd feeds off the team and the student section.

UT Athletic Dept. cuts student seating for men's basketball games

They cut the seats by about half for the SEC games, 3700 for the 2 "big" games, and cut them to 1500 for all the other games.

:furious3:

They spend all this work to get students to the games, and now that it's a hot ticket, the AD would rather make money than let all the students in.

Lame. If Bruce ever leaves, they won't know what to do with all these tickets they can't sell.

No matter what.......it's always like that.

yeah that sucks, especially since most of the season ticket holders sit on their hands the entire game.

Sure they will........ They will give them back to the students because they are not desirable.

I sent this e-mail that will more than likely never get to him:

Dear Mr. Hamilton,
I know you are being flooded with e-mails right now, but maybe that opens your eyes as to how much we love our basketball team. Bruce Pearl comes to Tennessee, builds it from the ground up, getting students actually excited about basketball, and you take away half our seats? I understand the reason you gave as to why you are cutting back on the amount of student seats, but when I read that, the only thing that came to mind was that money is more important than providing a good gameday atmosphere. How are we to compare with the Kentucky's and Florida's when you are taking away the loudest section in the arena? People start camping out two nights in advance as it is to get into the big games. I'm assuming that you want them to skip more classes then they normally would now that our allotment it half of what it was. I hope you will consider some of the topics I brought up and think hard about what you have just done. Thank you for your time.

Made me feel better. I'm outraged

I can't believe they would only allow around 1500 students in for the Ohio State game, if I'm reading that right.

This decision is contrary to what Pearl is all about. At some point, he will have to comment on this. I wonder if he had any say in the matter.

Pearl will be the first guy to bow down to the administration, but I'd be surprised if he didn't say something about this.

were they talking about him on espn or something?

No, they just cut to a shot of him sitting in the stands (in full orange regalia) at the Sox-Yankees game last night as they went to a commercial. He was on his cell phone at the time and looked pretty unhappy about something or other.

I've got to say, this really surprises me. There was so much talk last season about making TBA better for the students. This hardly does that....
