I think it was a good move to move Tatum to the 3 position. He is definately an offensive upgrade over Prince and we are a better team when Tatum and Hopson are on the floor at the same time. When they are in the game together it gives us two 3 point threats.

Prince comes off the bench better, for whatever reason, and Tatum plays better when he starts, for whatever reason. I don't know why Bruce can't see that.

I've always hated Prince and seeing him start makes me sick. Tatum is def more deserving.

I watched our basketball practice on Tuesday. When the team ran sprints, you can guess who was dead last for the whole team. Yes, JP apparently can't run faster than Kenny Hall or Wayne Chism.

I will be glad to see the day where he doesn't play for UT.

Prince is definitely a "streaky" player. When he is on he is very fun to watch.

However, it seems for every game that he plays well there is at least one reciprocal game where he is either mentally or physically absent.

What does "on" mean wrt Prince?

Ooh I can't wait to see more of those patented "Loose Ball, going to stop playing D now and hope we get it so I can get a long pass under the basket and Jam it (followed by gratuitous showboating)." Yeah, JP can really turn it up.

Snowbirding is bad but JP's worst trait bar none is his "I fouled?" after every call against him. He kills a guy and then acts like the refs are crazy. Drives me insane.

Actually terming JP's positive play as being "on" may be a bit misleading in regarding my intent.

In no way does his goofy set shot ever turn on (or off for that matter). I do think he can be highly contributive when he actually decides to play agressively and slash to the basket (under control of course).

I guess I just don't fully grasp the Prince hate. I watched every game last season, and for all the fuss about his lack of defensive effort, I'd have to say that after Wayne and Tyler he was our most important defensive contributor last year. Prince can't shoot, but he can do a bit of everything else, and as a fourth or fifth option who doesn't turn the ball over, and was one of the most efficient scorers in the SEC last year... Maybe he hasn't blossomed into a star, but given the injury history that's hardly surprising... Appreciate what he can offer though, because dude has some game.

I can still see Pearl putting Prince in at PG during the tourney and all the horrible decisions he made haha. I don't hate on Prince though. I was really excited we got him here and then heard his story with his struggles and though we needed a guy like him on the team. I think he does tend to 'show-boat' at times but I dono.

You're on the wrong forum, sadly. Prince is almost universally hated here because of certain tendencies he has which are, to be honest, not that endearing, no matter their relation to actual success.

Numbers-wise, he was our 3rd best player last year...by a huge margin. But he does some things that stand out negatively, and many opinions are formed based on occasional defects rather than the whole body of work.

This thread will repeat itself about 20 times this season, and usually only after he makes a bad play, though almost never when he puts up 16/9/2/2....then it's just crickets waiting for the next error until they can pounce.

crickets pounce, right?

Agreed! Prince would be an awesome duo w/ McBree & on the 1st team its Hopson & Tatum...then you have Kenny Hall & Brian Williams

You hit it on the head. He probably has the most athletic ability on the team however,I think he may be Bruce's equivalent of Crompton. When he is"on" he's exciting to watch. When he's "off" he is terrible.

He totally sucked against AP!
