Monte Kiffin is not coming. I am a huge Tampa Bay Fan, Monte makes more money than what Lane will be getting. Monte has had chances to be a college head coach, He was offered the Nebraska job last year. Why come and be a Defensive Co. and get paid less? If he does come then WOW . I will be happy for MY VOLS , but sad for my BUCS. Either way GO VOLS AND GO BUCS

Wrong

i doubt that we'll pay Kiffin less than 2 mil.

Bucs: Kiffin remains on new contract

Ok I know that ignorance is bliss but I saw where someone kind of compared the Tampa 2 to the Mustang package. They the said that both have the "bend but not break" concept and that the DBs play sort of soft on recievers. Is this true? If thats the case then what is the difference between the two. Not trying to be funny just seriously want to know difference.

The Tampa Two is run out of a 4-3 alignment while the "Mustang" is either a nickel, dime, or quarter package depending on how many DBs are on the field.

what worries me, is that the only speculation seems to be on Berry flourishing in this system. what about the rest of the d? do we have enough speed or skill to run it?

This website is a more visual explanation.

ESPN - 'Simple' scheme nets big gains for trio of defenses - NFL

Essentially, from what I've read-- it requires lots of quick, hard-hitters. In other words, Eric Berry would be perfect as a corner, linebacker, or safety in this system.

Pros: Very Simple; Covers short Yardage situations dominantly; minimizes man-to-man coverage.

Cons: Deep middle and Deep perimeter areas are areas of weakness; relies on the four lineman to pressure QB as there is minimal blitzing in the scheme.

In the Tampa 2 scheme, the middle linebacker has to have great speed and coverage skills because he has to be able to drop into the middle to deep middle zone to take away passing routes there (think Urlacher).

The Colts run this system, in watching them today and for the past few years, they run freakish stunts with their front four, and when they do blitz, it seems to come from the outside(corner or saftey). Now if we can get Freeney we should roll...........

I think Monte will come up with a plan to shut down or limit Meyer's offense at florida, even if tebow comes back.

I agree. If there was a defensive mastermind to come up ith a scheme to "defeat" the spread, it would be Monte Kiffin.

He may very well adjust some things for personnel and college game as well. It's not like Tampa just runs a 2-deep zone every play. There is more nuance to it than that.

But like Groves said, let's give one of the best DCs in all of football the benefit of the doubt that he could match wits with Dan Mullen and Mark Richt and hope we can start scoring some points of our own.

Well just the fact that he knows how to make adjustments during a game has to get you psyched.
