My 7 year old daughter is excited about going to Neyland tomorrow. I've been a season ticket holder since 1997, so we plan on the Vol Walk, the band march, etc.

Just curious about the Volunteer Village. I've honestly never had a reason to check it out.

Thoughts on Vol Village or other ideas?

Great for kids; especially if you're already on that side of the stadium for the Vol Walk.

Open 3 1/2 hours before all home football games, Toyota Volunteer Village hosts pregame festivities for fans of all ages, including interactive inflatable games, a live DJ, WNML radio's "Game Day All Day" and an Official Team Shop tent with all the latest Tennessee merchandise.

Located in the Humanities Plaza, Toyota Volunteer Village features pregame appearances from Smokey, Junior Smokey, cheerleaders and dance team. It's also a great place to watch the team make its way down Volunteer Blvd., to Neyland Stadium during the Vol Walk.

From the website. Not mentioned they do face painting or the T's on the faces so I'm sure she will have a blast there.

That's awesome. I can't wait to take my daughter. She'll be 5 next season, but I don't want to take her until she wants to go.

Vol Village is great....get her face painted....maybe even yours too! : ) My daughter is grown but still remembers her first trip to Neyland. It will be a special memory for you and your daughter. GBO!

May the weather be fair, the fans gracious, the game exciting, and the Vols victorious. May your daughter have a special day which she'll remember fondly throughout her life.

Same thing here. Me and my 13 year old daughter are headed to the game. I've been to tons of games over the years but this is the first year I have ever bought season tix. I'm completely unfamiliar with Volunteer Village. Where do they do that? Usually I'm hanging our near Calhoun's and the boats before the game :)

Have fun. Loved it when I took my son for a game. Watch her eyes grow as she walks into the stands for the first time and soaks in the field and view.

Whats a good age to bring a child to a game? Me and my dad will make the trip for the LSU game next year(hes a LSU fan) and was thinking about bringing my son that would be a year and a half at that time but wasn't sure if that would be to young.

You will see them very young there. I wouldn't recommend one that young, especially for a game like that one. Keep in mind he will have to have a ticket regardless of age.

It's not easy with a baby. That will be a loud game so ear protection would be a must. Mid November the weather could play a fact with a baby.

I would suggest taking the baby to a non conference game for their 1st. 1st game would be a win and if you ended up having to leave early, the game may be well in hand.

i took my kids for the FL game and we went to to the village, it's pretty cool, they have bounce houses, concessions, face painting....and you're right there when the band starts marching...so it's good family atmosphere.

kids got to expend some energy in the bounce houses, and then cool off with some sno cones and got their faces painted. easier to eat there as well...we ate at the UC and it took forever...would have been better off heading straight to vol village...

so if you have an hour or so to kill, and are just looking for something for the kids to do...it works. mine had a good time. for the adults....eh. it is what it is. no booze.

The village has inflatables and stuff for kids. Good time waster before the game.

Took my 5 and 3 year old boys to their firs game this year too (Ohio). They loved it!

Have fun!

Tell her about the day before you go. Include: a lot of walking, a lot of people, the stadium, what will happen (band, game, half time, etc), lay out some ground rules (no whining, we stay in our seat and watch the game, we will stay till we sway (Tenn Waltz), etc.

Tell her it will be fun and then make it fun (in other words, you can't yell at the players, the refs, the coaches, etc).

agreed. good point. i did the same with my 6 year old....the walking can tax them....i know it did mine.

after walking around about an hour taking all things TN in....she looked up at me and said "daddy, i'm not a walking person" lol.

they had fun, but they slept great that night at the hotel....:eek:lol:

I sat her down last night and we watched YouTube videos of the Vol Walk, Salute to the Hill, and Pregame. She's pumped about the band and of course, the cheerleaders

First post here, so hi everyone.

I am thinking about taking my 7 year old son to the game tomorrow. I was given 2 tickets in section YY with no parking pass. It's also a 2 1/2 hour drive each way. Is it really worth all the hassle of the drive and trying to find parking for these seats?

This. They do a good job with that set up.

My daughter really enjoyed watching the band the first time we took her.

Park at Market Square for free and ride the trolley 5 minutes to the stadium. Your kid will love riding the trolley. I've done this with little kids for the past 5 years or so and it's as hassle free as it gets and minimizes long walks and traffic.
