Did you see Cal's loss to Arizona? Did you see the destruction USC laid on them? Again, for now the 7,995th time, Cal was, is, and always will be a fraud.
Agree that Cal as a top ten team was a fraud in the end. in the context of top ten teams coming to Knoxville, that was one of the weaker ones in recent memory.

It was big win at the time, and I don't know how many people had the confidence in us to win. I still say it was big. .
but i tend to agree with this. While i'm not going to run around touting how we beat Cal etc...i do think it was a big game in that it was the first home game after 2005, and in that context, it was an extremely important game for TN at home to at least start 06 on a positive note against another BCS league team. there were so many question marks coming in to the season with the QB, WR, O line, defense...everything, losing that game would have have been terrible.

so, it was a big game for internal reasons, just not in the context that it was a big game between two top ten teams with national championship aspirations on the line.

i think most people would consider a big game to be something like when UF and UT were both ranked in the top 6, playing in knoxville and you knew that the winner was likely headed to atlanta and had a shot a national title. that kind of game hasn't been won in knoxville in quite some time.
