I read about people saying...Cinderella season....Undefeated...Upsetting Florida...Just relax. Tennessee played great! I give them all the credit in the world for coming out and demolishing Western Kentucky. But take into consideration the quality of the opponent before making these kinds of comments. Western Kentucky was terrible and looked like a JC team playinng a D1. They didnt belong on thye same field as UT. So how much can credit can you possibly give UT? Saturday will be a good test for UT. If they play like they did on Sat then it should be no contest. We'll have to wait and see...

I'll ask again, what harm could it possibly do for a fan to discuss future games? Our comments have zero effect on the outcome.

For the most part, you could only take in account the effort UT players gave. Not the results because of the opponent. What really was impressive was Crompton's accuracy over last year, along with his judgement. Unlike last year, the passes were, for the most part, on target. What gets me excited the most was the effort the young men gave all game. The organization of the new coaching staff was a pleasant surprise too. No delay of game penalties which would indicate a staff that was confused and not in sinc. We have a lot to look forward to, but I'm keeping things in perspective until they show "greatness". I think a lot of the SEC will be a little shocked at the way we play this year.

I have said it numerous times that we need to just concentrate on the next game coming up. All these people talking about upsetting Florida and all this jive are crazy. We were embarrassed at UCLA last year. Getting some payback for that should be front and center during any discussion this week.

Good post! Good to see that a few UT fans are being realistic about what you have on the hill. The Vols look better than they have in a long time, there is not a doubt about that. 1 game at a time. Saturday will be a big test for the UT. Please keep in mind the competition will be about 10 times better come Saturday. It's nice feeling relevant again. Being a Bama fan I have been where you all are at now.

You'll have to excuse us bmfcox. Most of us know it was just one game against a bad team, but it was the intensity that has us excited. We haven't seen a UT team prepare, execute, and finish in a long time. I just hope it doesn't take us 10 years and 6 coaches like it did Bama. Congrats on solid win against a quality opponent.:hi:

100% better in this area of the game. Horrible times, horrible times.

This.

I've said the same thing on other threads where people are saying "don't talk about anything other than UCLA or we will lose the game."

It has 0 effect on the field what games fans on message boards discuss or get excited about.

I say, we need as much fan enthusiasm as possible after last season & if looking ahead to games is what it takes to get some fans excited then have at it! :dance2:

Fans don't impact games--message board stuff has no effect on anything. I'm focusing on Florida! UCLA---automatic win!!!

You are talking to us as if we are the players or the coaching staff. Lighten up!

We are just a bunch of VOL crazy fans on a message board. What we think, say or do have no effect on how the next game turns out.

GO VOLS!!!!

I agree with you that the effort was there the whole game. Their intensity was off the charts. Cant remember if it was two or three interceptions and two or three fumbles but i do know that if they do that against a quality opponent they wont get away with it. Crompton needs to make better decisions and the ball carriers need to hold on to that ball. Do that against Florida and you will get blown out.
Crompton did a great job leading the team. We'll see how he does against UCLA.

I don't think any of us really think that by looking forward as fans, we have any bearing on the outcome of the games. What bothers me is there are some on here that are reading way to much into beating up on a far less team like WKU. People talking nonsense of putting the same whipping on the likes of Florida and Alabama, going undefeated and a NC. All of this talk is simply crazy talk after one win. Don't get me wrong, I am as excited as anyone about what is going on but I guess I lost my Orange colored glasses and have stayed away from the Kool Aid.

On a side note. I would absolutely love to have you all tell me "I told you so" at seasons end. Would certainly be the tastiest crow I ever ate!:)

Even His Hotness told a caller on Vol Calls last night to slow down and take it one game at a time.

I hope the Vols do better than I think they will - and I think they will do a lot better than last season.

Win 'em all. And if you can't win 'em all, win all you can.

I'm trying to stay realistic and lay off the kool aid but I have to say its getting pretty hard. I have to admit I was pretty impressed with our running game even if it was just WKU. I haven't seen it that dominant since the Travis Henry and Travis Stephens days. I liked what I saw last Sat.
