Without a pass, I recommend the parking lot near the strip behind what used to be O'Charleys. Get there around 8am. Quick walk to the Shell station if you run out of beer.
Here's a crude map, take the 17th street exit off of I-40. Go up and over the hill on 17th street, turn right when you can, I can't remember which streets are one way.
