Syracuse looked like a pretty good team to me.

They have a lot of the pieces and a really good coach IMO. Their OC runs some great schemes to get receivers open and their players never give up. Several times they mentioned how the coach kept hammering into them that they might get beat on a play but they won’t be out hustled. I think he’s got a great culture going there in just his second season.
They did get some good pick ups from the portal but their overall talent level is still below what they’ll need to compete for ACC championships. I read the post game thread on their board and their fans seem pretty knowledgeable about where they are now and what they need to move forward. Syracuse is a historic program and it would be cool (to me) for them to be a tp 10 team.

Texas stays in the top 10. They'll be fine. Tough way to open with the defending champ on the road. Alabama drops down precipitatiously. They're cooked. Syracuse is and will remain a non-factor. That 10 year old freshman db will transfer after this season. He'd be dumb to stay up there.

It's funny because throughout the course of the game I kept saying we looked soft on defense and Syracuse looked much tougher/more physical than we did.

Also, I know we had guys hurt but why do we look so damn little on the d-line? I swear at one point our d-line looked like a bunch of linebackers. Where are all the monsters? Where's the Henderson/Haynesworth body types?
I thought #94 who got hurt, big guy

Definitely dangerous if they can stay healthy. I just never felt like they were out of it and were always just to play or two away from having us in real trouble.

Not to beat a dead horse, and I don't wish ill on the guy at all, but we lose that game with Nico…
Sometimes we tend to see what we want to see....but eventually, reality sets in.

Neither did Bama or Texas but can guarantee both will still be high in the polls even after losing.
Both are having struggles at the most important position on the field...QB. Having said that I'd kill to have the Texas or OSU roster. Both OSU and Texas got some serious dudes on the lines of scrimmage....and a couple of pretty special WRs, too. Yup, roster envy runs strong with me.

Probably would be a much tougher game in their stadium. Definitely a better team than NC State was and we played them better in some areas. 12 tackles (5 sacks) behind the line of scrimmage for example.

I still think Syracuse is in the wrong conference. Regionally and culturally, they belong in the Big 10. They and Rutgers should be big cross-state rivals. Same with Pitt. They should be in the Big 10 and be rivals with Penn State.

I wonder how much basketball comes into play with Syracuse staying in the ACC.

Rutgers is in NJ, but I agree with what you’re saying. Them and BC have always felt a little out of place

That ship sailed ten years ago. The Big Ten didn't even bother vetting Syracuse as one of their latest expansion candidates.

The Big Ten only vetted these possible future candidates with FOX and NBC for expansion:

Notre Dame
California
Stanford
North Carolina
Virginia
Florida State
Miami
Georgia Tech
Clemson
Duke
Utah
Colorado
Kansas
Arizona/Arizona State as a pair

These are the only schools the Big Ten would consider if they move to 24.
