Begging for a coach to comeback even though that coach could care less about you (program), not then and not now. In fact even taunted you after he left at two different schools btw. Oh, and you think you can be this desperate and give a highly one sided contract in favor of school lol.

Also begging for Tee Martin who has only been an O.C. and given talent to work with just did average job.

Begging for a coach in Cutcliffe who is like 75 years old and at Duke. Don't get me wrong he did about as good as job as you can there, but he is old and we this is biggest hire right now. We need better.

You will ask who is better, well if they took this hire seriously like they should have you offer well above market value like even more than Saban makes and see who comes.

If still no response, something internal is going on to run them off, so you remove that person (Haslam or whoever)

Even Norvell is better option than Kiffin imo.

Norvell's resume looks similar to Butch's modest success at a smaller program after following a great coach (Fuente). Not impressed. UT's options are running out. Kiffin would no doubt inject excitement back into the program day one. Seriously, what does UT have to lose at this point? The program is absolutely at rock bottom.

Wrong letter. This is the letter:

Dear John,

Right now, you’re in a dustup whose entire life revolves around hiring a new football coach. Given that, it’s probably going to come as a surprise for me to tell you that someday you will be considered one of the best AD's in college sports.

Yes, one of the best.

Things don't make sense you now. You've got booster problems, media problems, fan problems. Get used to them. They won't go away.

But losing will. You can establish the foundation for the greatest run of college football in history, reinvigorate the program and restore Tennessee to greatness. All you have to do is one thing.

Hire Lane Kiffin.

Yours,

Bob Neyland

I have an idea for our next coach. He should be confident, dynamic, understand how Nick Saban, Dan Mullen and Kirby Smart think, be unafraid of all comers, thick skinned, know how to score tds, know how to recruit and be familiar with pressure of big boy football.

Now, would checking all these boxes make anyone happy?
If so, I know a guy.

It seems so obvious. But so many of our fans seem lost and willing to sell our soul, if that's what it takes to win. It's the kind of desperation that makes a "man" push a little kid out of a life boat to save his own skin. I feel like we need a good old-fashioned slap to the face to snap us out of this hysteria.

EXCITEMENT??? Most sane people, including me, would want to puke.

One chief problem, which is similar to when we were in AD flux for over a year, is that any coach worth his salt, even if he does want to come to UT, will question what sort of support or power current AD/UTAD has. I think this will prove to be a REAL problem.

Only thing which is somewhat positive is that they showed discipline against public outcry to not fire Butch sooner. Right or wrong, they didn't fire him until they absolutely had to. While he should have been fired sooner, and was a detriment to UT, I'd think other coaches would look at that and say they didn't bend to the public demands.

He took a dream job. We were pissed cause he was good and he left. Plain and simple.

If you want to win, and have fun, you hire Kiffin.

Kiffin burned too many bridges when he was here. Not in the way he left, but before, while he was still coaching. Kiffin is still not mature enough to handle a big time job. A good offensive mind? Yes. Ready to run a major program? No.

Why would Kiffin come back after the uproar and coach burning the last time he was here?

I agree we don't have a ton of options (why you're hearing Cut and Tee) But I like Norvell as a B list candidate. Yes he's following Fuente, and his resume isn't perfect. But man, the guy is 10-1 and lighting up the scoreboard, and his teams show up in big games. (something our last 3 coaches didn't do)
