This week on the Swain Event he has mentioned several times that there were still some players that were considering opting out. Yesterday, he particularly mentioned that it would really cause a problem at "one of our positions" as if multiple players from one position were considering. Today while referring to opt outs, the defensive line came into the conversation. He has not mentioned names?

Wouldn't be surprised if more kids opt out. We lucky to only having 1 so far.

On that subject, I saw on the Channel 3 11:00 PM in Chattanooga last night that the CDC has sent notifications to all 50 states informing them that a vaccine may be available as soon as late October. The news was that there will be several different vaccines that will be available. What say you VolNation?

Can’t blame the kids this season is not going to be a normal season and alot of people won’t consider it a legit season and it really isn’t when you have four conferences not playing.

Middleton has one year of big time exposure. Needed a good to great season to even be drafted. Not a good professional move for Solomon either.
Both may have NFL measurables.
They may be tired of playing school.
They may not wish to risk injury.
They may want the agent's money now.
Train for the combine while getting paid.

Neither have the draft ranking to skip season and get drafted. They will be losing money not making more by skipping season.
If they want to skip the season for truly fearing for their health that is one thing but listening to an agent who is telling them it is a good idea to skip the season for draft reasons Is another.

Draft stock’s a thing. Middleton doesn’t get invited to the Combine as is. All opinions but see Nigel Warrior and imagine he opted out last year.

I say most Opt Outs are not virus related.

You really can’t blame them.
I don’t see BLAME. I see opinions saying it’s not the better move if they want to play at the next level. Missing this season has little effect on the Chase kid. Last highlights of him was flashing epic in a national championship game. Middleton and Solomon playing snaps against Indiana isn’t on the same level. You have two NFL bodies each with one season of starting experience...that’s it.

Since everyone gets an extra year of eligibility it should be a surprise to nobody that there will be kids who wont risk playing this season. They could legitimately have a fear of COVID or just use COVID as a convenient excuse not to play and risk bad injury, especially if they have NFL aspirations.

If you’re wanting a shot at the next level and you aren’t an established star, it’s an odd move if not health related.

Kids who already have high draft stock will take the film they already accumulated and go home. Kids who are "on the bubble" have to weigh their prospects against playing an insanely tough 10 game SEC schedule with a higher likelihood of serious injury versus just sitting out and playing a "normal" schedule next year. They will just take the year to train and gain muscle and not risk serious injury. Many will call this season illegitimate anyway, rightly or wrongly, that will be the narrative.
