This morning. Acknowledges the good play by Dormady Sat but he feels it has fooled many people. He said no chance Dormady starts next year unless JG is injured or other unforseen circumstances. This is based on word from insiders and observation. Swain says JG has a stronger arm, can make all the throws like Dormady can, and is a way better leader. He says JG is simply better even with the experience difference. He confirmed Dormady is the back up so JG can redshirt. He said JG plays better in practice consistently and has the "it" factor. Swain sees no way that Dormady outplays him in camp next year. Backs up what Doug Mathews said.

I believe this as well. I could see a Dormady transfer depending on who we get in recruiting and we have Jones as well.

Interesting comments....I really thought Dormady would be the guy. Will be excited to see next fall.

I can totally understand what Swain is saying. There is something about Dormady that makes me feel he is not THE guy. Sure, he has a great arm and all, but Ive never had that feeling like this guy is the future. You could see it with Tyler Bray, Erik Ainge, Casey Clausen...hell even Jonathan Crompton! I hope I'm wrong and he shines, but its all in JG's hands!

Should be a good battle for the starting job, I don't care which one starts, but I do think either will be an improvement over this year.

Don't shoot the messenger. Some need to pump the brakes with acting like the Tech game proved anything for now or the future though.

Agree...and have stated so. Not shooting at you, but if he had gone to bat for Dormady, bet you would have pulled yours. :gun:

None of us have seen how Dormady or JG for that matter performs when the lights are bright and he is THE man the Vols depend on to bring home a win. Some embrace it and flourish others flounder. Time will settle the matter.

So does that make QD the next Peyton Manning/Tom Brady at TCU/Texas Tech/etc?

Kid has an NFL arm and brain.

He may be looking to transfer to a school with a less porous OL.

I've said for two years that he'll never play meaningful snaps here unless there is an injury in front of him. I still stand by that.

Why do you feel that way? Just don't think he is the right fit for our system or is it just purely a talent drop off?

I think he'll be successful wherever he goes. The young man has talent, but like JH (absent the drama) I'm not so sure he fits CBJ's system.

If he chooses wisely, I look forward to watching him play on Sundays.

Butch haters won't like this, but I really believe if he WAS the better QB, Dormady would be starting! Flame Away! :neener:

How can you say that he has an NFL arm and brain the kid has still never taken a meaningful snap in college football.....

Dormadys dad was a coach so he's been around the X's and O's all his life. JG's dad may be a coach don't know. Hopefully we get a great QB out of the competition but What do I know. I thought Brandon Stewart was going to be a better college QB than Manning because he could run. Stewart ended up being a really good QB after he transferred to Texas A&M but he was never no Manning.

Still doesn't mean anything if we continue to have no dedicated QB Coach/OC for JG or QD, for that matter.

Like Adams said in his article, he doesn't think we should squander any time with Dormady, risking that JG may seek transfer instead. JG is just a better fit with Read Option. He recommended Jones should go ahead and burn JG's redshirt, give him a couple of series each game, just in case the offense needs a jump start. Could Dormady transfer outside of SEC and not have to sit?
