..the No-Huddle. Along with certain other questions begging for answers in this game, I think this new element in the offense, will absolutely be as interesting as anything else in the game!

My brother was telling me about an article he read related to this. I wasn't aware that Cut, in his first season back with the Vols, made numerous trips to Indianapolis - observing and studying Peyton and the Colts' highly effective version of this scheme and formulating a model for Ainge and our offense. In the article, Cut said it's not every QB that can make it work but felt that Ainge is an excellent candidate.

Has the no-huddle been run much in college ball? Will we be among the first? Can it be as effective in a possibly one-dimensional offense?

I dont think it can be as effective in a one dimensional offense. The colts rely a lot on the run to open the pa pass and it is so effective because they can pass. So I think that if TN cant find somewhat of a pass game then they will struggle no matter if they run no huddle. I mean if you are looking to create a mismatch with no huddle and a good team knows you cant pass very well, then most of the time they will be fine with a defence on the field geared to stop the run. But then again I guess it could help a weaker pass team, if tn even is slow at getting the pass game up to par.

How deep is Cal the no huddle can physicaly break a D in that case it dozent matter who is on the field.

If they can execute it, it can cause problems for a defense in college because they can't change personnel in between plays very often, and it's harder to change defensive schemes on the fly. If UTs O-line can dominate Cal's D-line to establish the run, I think it could prove to be a very long day for Cal. If not, well, back to the drawing board.

I don't think we'll see the no-huddle tomorrow. We should be able to line up and successfully run the ball at Cal all night long. If we can run the ball, we'll leave the bay with a "W."

I'm guessing we'll save the no-huddle for Gainesville, and then we'll unveil it on those 9 new defensive starters. Hopefully we can keep the Gator defense backpeddling all night.

yeah but try that against fla. or any strong sec team etc.
But we're talking about Cal. Cal, unlike Vandy, is not an SEC caliber team.:) Seriously, Cal is not a threat. Hype can only make it to gameday. After that, talent takes over.

P.S. To Droski and the others Cal trolls.....I admire your enthusiasm but you need to find a team (and conference) worthy of your energy. Just curious....do you have several thousand posts on the board of every team you play this year? Or are the Vols special?

The hype has been great. The offseason bites! But...... THE VOLS WILL SUPPLY A GOFBW (That's good old fashioned butt whoopin) 21.5 hours from now!

I'm not positive that we'll see a no-huddle offense at all this season outside of a 2-minute offense just like everyone else in college football. Seriously, if you plan on employing a no-huddle offense as a significant component of your strategy, why the hell would you repeatedly broadcast that fact nationwide all during the offseason? That makes zero sense unless you're just trying to throw out something else for which all your opponents will have to prepare (thereby distracting them from focusing on other items).

You do realize your opening sentence defeated your entire argument, right?

UF is probably the thinnest team UT will play this year in their front 7. They'll have several Freshmen in the two deep and several undersized players.

If you can prevent substitutions by the D... it helps against any defense but maybe even more against good ones.

Tulsa runs the no huddle with Malzahn. They used tempo very well Thursday night.

They've practiced it all fall. There's no reason to "save" it for UF. They need to work any bugs there are out of it before then.

I understand that but I am saying if Tn passing game isnt on(which I think they will be fine at) and your pretty much 1 demensional, then Fla or anybody knows that, I dont think you will gain much with a no huddle even with them being thin. I mean its hard to run with 8 in the box and the d wont get to tired if you are going 3 and out.
