I certainly don't think Dormady earned a starting job by torching an FCS team, but it's pretty clear to me he's a more polished passer. Dobbs is the team leader and vastly more experienced, but after seeing several lukewarm Dobbs posts last week, I was surprised to not see anyone stirring the pot.

Anyway. Here's the token post.

Frankly, next man up syndrome runs rampant in our fanbase, but dobbs is plenty talented and has the needed experience. Q will be there soon enough, maybe even next year but I think most people realize that it's Dobb's job until next season and even then it'll be hard to wrestle it away from him.

Yeah, let's start a freshman at the Swamp for his first game.

No QB controversy here. Dobbs has/is going to struggle
With accuracy. We always known that. He's in there to make plays.

If Saban was the coach Dormady would have started Saturday...and then out by the second quarter! Ha rtr, right out of the playoffs!

Dormady looked good, no doubt, but Dobbs gives you another dimension with his running ability

I agree completely. The only bad part to me is it seems like Dobbs has been told not to run as much this year and I think he's having to think about things too much and it's hindering his natural escapability. We need to pull out all the stops to beat Florida, even if it means giving Dobbs the reigns to pull it and run when he needs to

I am afraid if Dormady can't run so well, he might get the Justin Worley treatment with the Oline in the state that it is in.

That being said the coaches probably were conservative with him in the play calling.

Dormady appears to be the better passer of the two. He can make throws Dobbs simply can't.

Dobbs is the more complete QB and gives us the best chance to win at this point.

There is no controversy. Dobbs threw some great passes Sat. No pass QD made was tougher, or prettier than the first td Dobbs threw to P Williams. When Dobbs has time he throws it great as we saw Saturday. He also is more mobile and experienced. Dormady won't take Dobbs job. He may never even start a game here.

He moves pretty well IMO, just not nearly on the level of Dobbs. Haven't seen the quickness yet that should be indicative of his reported shuttle time. That said, he clearly throws a better ball than Josh and if he can run just enough to keep the defense honest going forward, we may have a spirited QB competition going into next Spring.

While he is certainly quicker than Worley, Dormady isn't as quick as a few made him out to be. Reminds me of Ainge. Athletic enough to avoid a weaker pass rush, but not near as elusive as Dobbs. Yeah I know... shuttle time, decent 40 time, blah blah, but he definitely isn't as athletic as Dobbs under pressure. Looked like Peterman when he ran.

I was thinking the same thing. Leaving the game last night I fully expected to get on VN and see at least 3 threads calling for Dormady to start.

If dormady did that well against an SEC team. I might be one of the ones calling for a change. Since it was more of a practice game. I think sticking with dobbs is the right thing to do.

What throw did he make Saturday that Dobbs can't make, or already hasn't already made against better competition? People say this but what are you basing this on? What NFL throw did Dormady make Sat? Dobbs threw a perfect back shoulder fade first td. One of the toughest throws to make. Lets see QD do that.

Not all of this is true. Dobbs will throw good balls, but is a very inconsistent passer at this point in his career. He missed several yesterday.

Dormady's TD pass was the prettiest pass of the season.

Dobbs TD pass to Williams was better.

Good God our fan base is obsessed with the backups.

Heh, I tried (twice) to start a tongue-in-cheek QB controversy thread last night at the tail end of the game, but one of the mods must've not liked the idea because it got deleted within just a minute or two, both times. After the first time, I thought I somehow failed to put it up; after the second disappearance, I knew I was angering some mod god somewhere. :)

Bottom line is, who knows how many threads (serious and joking both) got started and deleted last night on just this topic?

I went back and looked and didn't see a thread deleted but I'm on mobile so I could have missed it. Let freak know if you continue to have problems.
