After sustaining a severed cervical spine injury, today's announcement that Kevin Everett will most likely not walk again has now become a reality. I know there was previous thread posted before the surgery, but now we know for sure the doctros have given him a 10% chance of walking again. At the age of 25, there is so much more to life beyond football anw he will be limited...and he will need all of our thoughts, prayers, (VolNation support.) Let's be a VNation inside and outside of sports....sports compliments life, life doesn't compliment sports. I am proud to have Tennessee on my birth certificate and orange blood running through my veins, but he loved the sport we love inside or outside of Tennessee. Let's keep him in our prayers and thoughts.

I agree with your post and believe me my heart goes out to him and his family but I'm confused as to how he is one of OUR family. How did he take Tennessee football heritage seriously? Are you mistaking him with Kevin Burnett?

I'm glad you said something. I was quite confused myself. Kevin Everett is from Texas, went to Juco in Texas, played college ball at Miami and his entire pro career in Buffalo. My thoughts and prayers go out to him regardless.

If he makes it through the next 48-72 hours, I'm optimistic that he'll be able to recover enough to have at least some amount of full-body motor function.

The biggest thing is that the doctor giving the statement said it was an incomplete transection and compression. The structural compression was relieved through surgery and the tissue compression will diminish when the swelling goes down. It'll be a more accurate prognosis when that happens, and I speak for everyone when I say we hope for the best.
