Subterfuge
Definition: deceit used in order to achieve one's goal.
synonyms:trickery, intrigue, deviousness, deceit, deception, dishonesty, cheating, duplicity, guile, cunning, craftiness, chicanery, pretense, fraud, fraudulence More

I went back and re-read Currie's and Davenports letters after the Schiano blow up and noticed something: Their use of language was very careful, the letters read like one professional making a public statement to another for an unexpected turn of events but NOT for a deal gone bad.

Now, move forward from that moment and consider subsequent events. All these coaches who keep coming up, none of them publicly said we actually offered, even Doeren's agent only said "he didnt want any part of that".... they all just keep saying that they are staying put, thats different from "I told Tennessee no", even Gundy.

And all the "offer" details and stuff was sourced from "insiders", and we all should know by now how much thats worth.

What if -

Just one Saturday to go...
Its done....
Maybe there's even an UTAD mole
Been slipping hints for a couple days
Obviously Im just guessing here

I came to this conclusion last night. All the statement says was that Schiano was a candidate and was vetted. Not that any offer was made.

I think a name has been floated as a target each day to get things stirred up and provide diversion for a later timeline. As I commented elsewhere, there is no universe where all this could happen and Currie is still plodding away. This is a careful plan. I think the statement on Schiano was possibly because the reaction was underestimated. Other than that, Currie has been completely silent. There is still time over the next two days for Miles and Leach to be "targets".

My money is on Jimbo. But there are others that wouldn't surprise me.

They could be trying to relax the competition resulting in coaches getting new contracts and more money. Then the competition relaxes thinking Tennessee is just blowing smoke and not serious about there coach. I don’t call it conspiracy but just shrewd. I think we will have a good man Friday. Most likely a name not yet mentioned.

Question....because I genuinely don't know....

Do Doeren, Brohm, Gundy all have the same agent? Because if they all did, then I'd say you might be on to something....

I wish I could find a list of all of Sexton's clients, but I know there are other agents out there.

Because if you could make the case that UT had their guy and were only talking to people under a certain agent to help get them extensions to buy time....that would be interesting.

But this isn't the Gruden thread, so I'm not going to continue to believe it.

I’m sorry but saying this debacle of a coaching search was intentional because they were buying time to reel in the big fish or they had already caught a big fish and were simply buying time in order to announce it is asanine.

The debacle has been all fans and media. The university has said nothing other than Schiano was a candidate and was vetted.
