eh, i think it's reaching, at least right now. that said, as you look back on most national championship teams, there's always a game or two that you look back and say "holy cow, if that hadn't happened..." our 98 season was riddle with gems like that.

97 nebraska had the funky pass break up, that wound up being kicked in the air in the air, and intercepted to seal a win against Mizzou...

01 Miami had that ridiculous 92 yard fumble recovery return for a TD against BC

those are just the ones i recall off the top of my head, i'm sure there's plenty of others. point being, it's the sum of the parts that equal the result. i don't think anyone looks at those plays as "the reason" we/they won the national title, just part of the journey to get there.

so, sure, we could look back at these last few games one day and reminisce and wax poetic about the miracles that led to....well, i won't finish that part.
The one that always comes to mind for me is the Colorado 5th down game against Mizzou the year they won the NC.

King, I don't understand the need by so many in our fanbase to perpetuate this myth that Ratliff caused the fumble. It's ok to be lucky, every national champion has some luck along the way. It doesn't diminish our natty at all to say we lucked out in that game.

Like when the Arky punter illegally kicked the bad snap through the back of the end zone from inside the Arkansas 10 yard line?

We get 2 points for the Safety and Arky gets a free kick when we should have gotten the ball first and goal inside their 5 yard line.

Lucky, huh?

I don't remember Ratliff Causing Stoerner to fumble, I thought he stumbled after being tripped by his OL's foot? Either way, it sure wasn't luck the way that Tennessee ran the ball down their throat after the fumble!!! That was a dang good football team!

He dropped over the leg of an OLman who was pushed backward by Ratliff" the worm".

Football is a game of luck. You aint winning a evenly matched game without it. Some will say you make your own luck and while I tend to agree, sometimes you still just get lucky.
