Strong would be a good hire...

The guy lost to UConn & Syracuse and almost choked away the championship last night. What makes him a great target?

How did he almost choke it away he was the underdog in the game. He also has a young team and only 4-5 SR's. Does Saban losing to UAB and UL LAF or Monroe not sure which make him a bad coach? When he was at mich st he never won anything there so i guess that made him a choker. If he was at UT he would have better resources to get better recruits and more money to put an elite staff together. He can coach and recruit and would do both well at UT.

Brian Kelly 3rd year at Cinci: 11-3 overall.
3 losses were 52-26 blowout loss to Oklahoma, 40-16 blowout loss to Connecticut, 20-7 loss to VTech in bowl.
Close wins (i.e. less than 7 points) against Akron, Rutgers, Hawai'i.

I'm going to guess you guys wouldn't want Brian Kelly here either, right?

Nice find. Strong is definitely one of if not my top HC choice at UT since we didnt get Gruden.

I will b called a racist for this but here it goes....the media is pushing Strong to ANY SEC school bc he is black....he is a decent coach but he doesn't belong n the SEC as a head coach....he has been mediocre in a horrible Big East....hasn't beat anyone worth anything this year.....if he was white he would b Al Golden and not getting no where near the publicity....these are my opinions and I will stick to them

They are pushing him because he has Louisville in a BCS bowl.

The man has won in his conference. He can't help what conference he is in or who he plays. All he can do is win the games that he plays.
News flash: we're not getting lovie smith haha.
There are good college coaches that would take this job and strong is one of them. He's a good coach. People crack me up, they think that it's Gruden or bust. Tons of good coaches out there that would be an upgrade over what we had! You can't blame a coach for their schedule, all they can do is play the teams on the schedule. If a coach can win against other teams in conference with basically the same talent level as the other teams then he is a proven winner (see Brian Kelly). Someone will hire him and become a good team again why can't it be us? He's as good as anyone else that we have a chance of getting

:lolabove: That's hardly a reason to hire him.

Look at their schedule. That's hardly bcs-worthy. They only get in via an automatic spot from their pathetic conference.

Nah, we'd rather have Lane Kiffin. #MikeHamiltonLogic

I have good feelings about Strong or Franklin. Whoever it is.....he better be a strong leader and establish with those players that this is his kingdom on day 1. And if they don't want to follow his plan then hit the road.

You sound like one. Al Golden? Al Golden has a losing record and has done the same thing RS did in Miami but actually has won less. Also no SEC ties. He's getting pushed because he took a 4-8 team to 10-2 and a BCS bid with a young roster in three years. Add that to NC DC experience in the SEC you have a great candidate regardless of color.

Al Golden turned Temple around....TEMPLE.....took him a couple years but he had them WINNING.....then he goes to the U and amidst all the turmoil he has them bowl eligible with a depleted roster only to have the AD say they will not go bc of the previous infractions....now I DO NOT WANT GOLDEN....but I do not want Strong either....both would be bad hires....

On a side note....Strong is a great DC and has my respect as a head coach but not here at this time....
