Strong has got some pretty serious credentials. Head coaching experience. Serious jobs at serious programs--ND, south carolina, florida--where he was defensive coordinator. Defensive expertise--CRUCIAL; see bama. Recruiting contacts in florida--important. And: He knows the SEC very well and what it takes to win in the SEC. Pretty damn good package, IMO.

The guy lost to UConn & Syracuse and almost choked away the championship last night. What makes him a great target?

Remember when we used to play in championship games? Also, I have not see us "almost choke" in a few years now. We are driving with the choke fully engaged.

Recruiting is the main difficulty of competing with the top-tier programs for us. Not saying it is the only issue, but it is foundational in nature. Without the recruits you are not going to win in the SEC.

Charlie Strong can recruit Florida. This is proven. That would go a long way to getting us back on track.

Yeah...why should UT hire a coach who doesn't win every game by 28 points, and had to settle for a BCS bowl in only his 3rd year on the job?
