TennFatz

All i know is last year Alabama players said Tennessee was the most physical team they played. Butch fires the SC coach and this year Bama man handled us.

I am all for a solution to stop our injuries but I have to say we look in better condition than almost all our opponents this year. Knees ankles and shoulders some times just happen. I have not been on our turf but I think it looks 100% better this year.At least we are not cowards and fake injuries to slow things down.

I can't think of another team that has had the amount of injuries we have seen this year. I am sure the gladiators in Rome saw more, but they solved that with grave diggers, not trainers.

But you are right, the guys that have managed to stay healthy look good. Sadly, the critics only focus on three things: 1. What has gone wrong, 2. Who they can blame, & 3. How many people they can drive nuts whining about it.

The major problem is technique.
I've seen the DT's (even before injuries) get in the technique 3(T3), but still try to play two gaps. The objective of T3 is to get through a selected gap and pressure the backfield.

Time and time again, I've seen our LB's get vertical (behind each other). I think CBJ calls this loosing gap integrity, and it happens in every game.
Our needs:

  • OL Coach
  • QB Coach
  • DL Coach
  • DB Coach
Other than that, everything is just peachy.

I think Butch fired the SC coach last year. Even though we didnt have as many players get hurt last year. If you wanna win championships copy what Alabama does. If Butch don't come off his being too hard headed we will never win a championship.

Exactly, CBJ caved to complaints from players that they didn't like the S&C coach. CBJ turns him loose and brings in another lacky and look at the results.

No answer but curious how we ranked with other Div 1 teams in regard to injuries. Starting to think there were two curses. We shed the Florida curse but the injury bug lingers. Are we really far more decimated than the average team or is that just the perception? I don't follow other teams really so no clue how many starters you might expect to lose during a season.

Lots of mensas ON HERE called for Lawson's head last year. On VN, all you have to do is LEAVE if you want to be recognized as good. :)

Either a Johnny Long or a John Stucky type. The guys who trained under them could move mountains and they often did. Without getting hurt.

Also, while we're at it, anybody old enough to remember when a lot of our receivers and DBs ran track as well? That was when we earned the name "Wide Receiver U." Not a coincidence, as I remember things.

Let's ask Willie Gault. And Anthony Hancock, etc.

Track & Football: A Running Tradition At UT - University of Tennessee Official Athletic Site

Different kind of offense is being run these days. If our guys were bigger and stronger up front, this offense would keep them from moving mountains. I don't think their first move, after the snap, is a power move. Zone blocking is different than power run blocking. I could be wrong though. Just what my lying eyes see every game :):)

I've heard rumors of that as well. Players essentially mutinied Lawson

Who are some guys we could look to hire. Id like to see Butch pony up and go get one of the proven big boys, however I'm sure he will hire a small up and comer.

However with the shake up at LSU I'd like to make a push for their SC Coach Tommy Moffitt, also wouldn't mind their Oline coach.

If their is shake up at Oregon bring their SC on down.

Would love to have Moffitt here but he is making a little over $300,000 now. I'm sure it would take $400,000 to get him and if we pay a strength coach that other assistants wI'll want raises as well.

Haven't they tried before and his wife was the reason he didn't take the job?

Real easy solution. Fire some of those assistants and hire others. Nobody on this coaching staff should feel safe outside of Butch, Shoop, Steve Stripling, and Larry Scott.

This team is only a shell of the team that started the season..

We still have 78 of the 85 scholarship players available that we started the season with. Only 5 (JRM, KMac, Sapp, Tuttle and Berry) have been lost for the year due to injury and of course, 2 others (PWill and Hurd) left the program.

I doubt it's conditioning. This team was in shape. You can't get down to UF and then keep fighting and score 38 points. You can't scrape against uga for 60 minutes and get out played and then win. You can't get down to txam and then claw back to almost win. They just lost all those games. SOmething isn't right.
