Are you kidding me?

Strange in GoVols article KNS
"Coordinators come and go. Athletic directors dig in deeper and have a more profound impact. Thus, the hiring process is more complicated (and political). UT's situation is complicated further by the fact that the new chancellor, Dr. Beverly Davenport, isn't on campus yet.

So it could be months rather than weeks before Jones' new boss is in place. I don't blame Davenport for wanting legitimate involvement in the hire. If that takes a while, so be it. This is a big deal."

I've read that Davenport doesn't want a UT person in the position. That may have something to do with it, why she wants so much of a say.

Sorry, I dont get the jimmy reference.

Jimmy actually stated this a few days ago. Jimmy reference is usually referring to Jimmy hyams who usually reports things days or weeks after the info is already out. Even though his info is accurate it is usually later when he knows it is true. Just so happens this time he reported it first.

Every now and then when people say something after the info has already been out, people say Jimmy. Also, I was referring to strange as jimmy.

Your talking education here in regards to the new president. Most College level educators dont live in the real world.

Maybe if we post a lot of negative stuff about this here on Volnation, the powers that be will read it and realize we aren't happy. Maybe then they'll order Beverly Jackson to show up sooner or just bypass her altogether. I mean we apparently have an affect on recruiting and the media, so why not the Athletic Director hiring process? I kid.......I kid.

Who is the interim AD? I am assuming that the UT admin was proactive enough to appoint someone as interim AD.

Got a BAD feeling about this. Hope "Beverly" isn't like the "Beverly" at the Coca-Cola Museum!

Why would she NOT want a UT person in a position to make UT decisions based on what's best for UT? Does she hate UT? Why was she hired then?

I don't understand why people are making such a thing out of this. It was announced months ago that Hart would retire in June. We got 6 months y'all. Why on earth did people get it in their head that the replacement would be named months early? Why on earth are people freaking out about this? Sheesh.

Because this might be the biggest no brainer hire in UT history and UT has a real history of screwing things like this up

Most Chencellors and Administrators think it's their job to make fans care about the educational and academic part of being a student athlete.

I'm sorry but I want "fans" to care about the athletic programs here at UT...they've built this University! I bet Bama fans feel the same way...I have a feeling they're very proud of their University!

I have no problem with the admin doing their due diligence to ensure they get the right hire. My problem with it is the timeline. Late January/February suggests due diligence to me, April/May suggests that it's been put on the back burner. If this thing goes to April or May and we settle on Gilbert, who has never been an AD before, then I hope UT fans, boosters, alumni, etc give em hell. They'd deserve it.
