Stories about meeting Vols

Hey i thought this would be something cool we could all do. If anybody has a story about meeting Vols or other important sports figures, please share.

The story that comes to my mind first is when i met johnny majors by accident a few years ago at an orange and white game. My father saw him hot tailing it around Neyland Stadium trying to find his gate and told me to go speak to him. I walked over to him and told him it was great to have him back and he began talking..and talking..and talking. It was a great thrill to have this mans upmost attention for a few minutes while i walked with him around the stadium. He was talking incredibly fast and saying things like "The Tennessee fans are the best fans in the world...I always love coming back to Tennessee." While we were walking, people kept coming up to him and tried to speak with him, but he just ignored them and kept walking and talking with me. One guy even mentioned how he named his son after Coach Majors, but it was no avail, he got no attention from Johnny lol. He signed my seat cushion for me and it still hangs in my bedroom back home.

I talked to Jasen Allen in the lobby of the Hampton the night before this yers O&W game, and again later that night at Sapphire.

(1) I went to the Ye Olde Steakhouse after a UT game during one of Peyton's years. My dad and I were sitting there eating, and we looked over to see the entire Manning family (including Peyton, Archie, and Eli) sit down at the table next to us. Got an autograph from all three.

(2) My grandfather was inducted into the Paris, TN sports hall of fame, and my whole family went to the ceremony because my dad was accepting it for him. Turned out that Peyton was the guest speaker, and my dad got to sit next to him through the whole dinner at the speakers' table. We all got to talk to him afterwards for a little bit.

Met Peyton at my high school football game during his sophmore season I think it was. He came to the game with another Vol who had played at my school. Only got the speak with him for about 5 mins, but he was very cordial.

Sorta met Heath Shuler once at a resturant in Knoxville, but he was down right rude to me and my buddies. Just sorta grunted at us when we tried to speak to him, course we were kids so go figure.

I'm pretty good friends with Brady, and he introduced me to Donte Stallworth and Kelley Washington (among others) last year.

I met the entire 2001 UT team when we played them in the Citrus Bowl. By far the classiest group of opponents (and the best) that we faced that year. Casey Clausen was hilarious. Cracked jokes left and right. IIRC, it was Fulmer's daughter who was pretty cute, too.

I sat with Heath shular in Econ 201 (seat in between was always empty, dude always skipped class) and he was a hell of a nice guy.

Oh and then there's Finlayson, see him all the time. I ain't bragging because he gets quite an ego trip...lol

I helped Trey teague pass Freshman English. He and Jeff Smith were in my paper/journal review group. They always got their work done at the last minute.

I met Trey at the last alumni meeting and he seemed pretty smart to me. Maybe I'm the dumb one.

One of my friends, who is a member here, is good friends with Brisco thru FCA and last time I was at his house gave me a pair of Gerald Jones recieving gloves from a game this season, apparently Brisco gives him stuff when he comes up lol he has a pair of Brisco's gloves and shorts I think

Well, Strange story..when I was but a kid, Kevin Nash taught me how to shoot basketball...My brother used to go to the varsity courts all the time and I was too young to play with those big guys so I would find a goal and just attempt to shoot on it...Between games big Kev came over to me and started showing me what to do...Super nice guy and I ran into him many times after that...He was like a hero to me and then I heard about his problems at UT and lost contact until he became a pro wrestler lol...Small world isn't it?

Had a hilarious conversation with Cedric Houston after class one day.

Committed a violation for a former QB.

Joked around with Jon Hefney and Bret Smith. Didn't know it was Smith until they left and Hefney went "IT'S BRET SMIF BRET SMIF!"

Had short conversations with John Henderson, and I think he was scared of my size. :)

My ex-girlfriend lived in Maryville, probably 2 minutes from Phil's house, and I always drove by it on my commute, and one day he was out back with someone talking about landscaping, so I slowed down and said hello.

Met lots during school but not many stories I can share here :)

One cool one was not mine but my step-dad met CPF in an airport. CPF was out recruiting but took the time to talk. He told Fulmer how big a fan he and my mom were and that mom was about to have a brain tumor removed. CPF told my step-dad to give her a call and he took the phone and told her he hoped she got thru it ok and could make it to a game that season. She talked about it for weeks.

I actually talked to ...and...shook hands with the famous OWH...and REXVOL.....before the O&W game this spring...:)

Hey guys this is my first post here. I have been a UT fan since 1994. I live in the upstate of SC. THis past weekend I got to go the Greenville Drive(minor league baseball team) game with Johnathan Crompton and Wes Brown. My moms boyfriend is buddies with John's dad and he was there to take some photos for the team. They are both very nice guys.
