Always nice to win. Admittedly I find myself frustrated with how it ended....
But i think I maybe I have been missing something.

Let me ask you all something.

What would the score had been in this Florida game had our defense played like it did against Pitt?? And with the way our offense played in conjunction.
I came up with a 45 - 14 type final score.
But of course it ended 38-33

This team...this team is inventing itself. If that makes sense. They have shown that they can for extended periods of time play good defense (not tonight no).
They showed tonight that the offense can score repeatedly in the heat of a close battle (unlike against Pittsburgh)

Two different teams on two different nights...

What happens when they put both of those efforts into the same game🤔...

Pitt was a solid team. The qb and Rb situation as UF is so far beyond Pitt that we’re comparing apples and bowling balls, to paraphrase Phil Leotardo. Did they play great? No. But they played good enough to win despite the lousy refs letting them hold multiple times, even to the point of grabbing jerseys from behind Omari. I don’t think our roster has the talent to play UF like they did Pitt.
We’ve got 2 weeks to heal up and correct some deficiencies. This team can’t beat Bama or UGA but they can go 10-2 and get a NY6 bowl. 9 or 10 wins is advancing well beyond where we should reasonably be in year 2 given the situation he inherited. Wonderful job so far-go vols.

Did you watch UGA today? I did.
They aren't unbeatable, and if you watch that offense closely you can see why they went after Squirrel White so desperately last recruiting cycle...

Did you watch Bama against Texas?
That offense of Bama's is not a solid identity yet...

I'm saying Tennessee hasn't played their A game yet. And if they so happen to while playing UGA and/or Bama, and they're not playing theirs...🤔

Most importantly...Tennessee is learning how to win close games. Something they struggled with last year.
Next we have an LSU team that was 3 slow Qtrs away from being undefeated right now.

LSU is still talented and they're improving.
Two teams that are playing with good momentum meeting in the bayou in 2 weeks. I expect another close game. And Heupel will need to out coach Brian Kelly late in the game.

Right now, this Tennessee team is dangerous. They can beat anybody on a good night.

As far as I can tell...if our defense can get 5 stops a game....we'll never lose so long as our offense is playing well

Agreed. When this offense is on, they’re unstoppable. Doesn’t even matter if they’re down their All-SEC receiver. If the defense can compliment the offense? Every Vol fan better prepare to act a fool!

Exactly if the offense and defense both click together we can absolutely beat anyone and maybe run away with it… I am still not that impressed with Georgia, that Oregon team looks highly overrated and South Carolina looks horrible

Georgia is a huge athletic team.
But not "explosive "
Defensively they have long guys that can disrupt.
Offensively they maul and misdirect too. But they're not built for a shoot out. That's what Tennessee MAYBE capable of doing this year.

We still have A LOT to clean up, and maybe we don't fix it all...
We really need to play Josephs, Herring, Pearce, Phillips more. Especially Josephs.
They're all freshman but they can give those older guys much needed rest late in close games and possibly impact it directly while playing themselves. Josephs had two QB pressures in 4 snaps haha!

It's awesome to be 4-0! But I really get interested when I can tell that this team hasn't even begun to peak yet...

It's going to be fun watching them develop. I don't truthfully think they will bear Bama or UGA. They could still lose to LSU.
But...there's no sense of a certainty with this team. Every opponent better come ready or they WILL get embarrassed by the Vols

This was Tennessee’s worst defensive performance (this season). However I firmly believe Tennessee wanted to stop Florida from running all over them (and using even more clock) and force Florida to beat them by passing.

Florida definitely passed the ball all over Tennessee…….but I highly doubt Tennessee will play that much soft zone vs anyone else this season.

Their pass coverage isn’t good……but I do not believe it’s going to continue to be “this” bad. Tennessee will play more man and more press and drop more…….it’s not going to suddenly be amazing……but they won’t have this game plan for any other game and it will show……just my opinion.

Also there is probably only a couple other teams that can do that much in the air left for Tennessee.

Tennessee held vs the run, they got a few stops and that’s all that was needed.
