I dunno. There's just something about the kid I like. It can't be easy being the coach's son and not being a "superstar" player. I just like how he loves the game and how he doesn't quit.
I don't like watching him play but with him getting decent minutes for the last 2 month or so we have played the best basketball of the year so I will put aside my dislike cause obviously something is working.
How could you not respect his play...when he is in the game he gives it 120%. If Woolridge did the same Pearl would not be getting any minutes. Those who don't like to see Pearl on the court need to be talking to Renaldo not griping at Steven.
He was able to cut down on his mistakes last night and there was never that moment when you asked yourself what the heck is he doing out there. He played solid defense and kept them in front of him. Other than missing the rebound that turned in to a 3 he had some good minutes and gave it his all! There is two sides to a court and each is just as important to winning!
Steven Pearl is a beast. His minutes are valuable. The team clicks when he is on the floor and he has improved from the beginning of the season. Can't say that for everyone.
I would like to thank coach Pearl for not being afraid to play his son. Even though he doesn't bring anything to table other than hustle and smarts. I'd say he has earned his playing time and is invaluable to the team as far as being a team player who isn't into anything other than playing!! Go Big Orange, MSU is going to be the same kind of grind it out game.
