Steele might be opening up

I have trouble getting the night out of my head when West Virginia scored 70 on Clemson during Steele's last game as their DC.

He was fired, Venables was hired and Clemson has been at the top of college football ever since minus Steele.

Steele is a winner that night against WVU and his time at Baylor notwithstanding. He's coached for 6 coaches who have won Nattys so obviously people who know what they're doing trust him. Pretty sure Clemson offense committed 6-7 turnovers in that game which put his D in sonofUT62 reallocate bad spots.

That was 20 years ago and look who he has been DC under. The hire wouldn't scare me as much as you.

That's fair, but this fan base isn't going to get fired up for 9-36 lifetime HC record, or whatever he has. It's easily as risky, if not more so, than anyone else on the board.

From GoVols247:

“A source close to Steele, who makes $1.1 million and reportedly has a $500,000 buyout at Auburn, has told GoVols247 that he only would come to Tennessee to be the head coach.”

Fired as DC at Clemson.

Demoted from DC to LB coach at Alabama.

59 years old. 9-36 as HC 1-31 vs Big 12 in 4 seasons.

VERY up and down career.

His Baylor head coaching record is 1-31 against opponents in the Big 12 conference. We've already been down this road. Thanks, but no thanks.
