Just saw this. Never heard of the guy but big numbers getting thrown around. Saw SEC Country article.

Might make Steele available for DC. Hope they don’t throw HC at him though.

Still can’t imagine a world where Arky is a better job than Auburn. I guess that world is where you get a 50% pay raise for at least the next 7 years?

Lots of news out of Fayetteville that they want a coach decision today.

Auburn fan base is as schizo as the Vols.

Probably thinks he would be better appreciated (and paid) by going home.

Agreed to the bolded. I’ve not understand why anyone would think he’s a viable HC candidate given his prior HC experience.

So are you a Tennessee fan? How can you not know Kevin Steele? He is a Tennessee guy. Played LB at UT under Majors in the late 70's. He's coached at UT, Nebraska, Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Florida St. and Auburn.

Bring him home to be DC!

I know exactly who Kevin Steele is. But I’ve been solidly in the “why the Hell would Gus leave Auburn for Arky?!” camp thus far. That might indeed be happening.

Hell no to HC tho. His record is awful.

The SEC Championship game might have been the perfect storm for us getting Steele at DC. Malzahn, flirting with his home at Arkansas, means Steele could be out of a job soon as a potential new HC at Auburn would want to bring his own staff. That, coupled with Steele's abysmal HC record at Baylor, most likely means his name's off the desk for consideration as HC there too. It would be near impossible to be Auburn right now and not still feel some of the sting of Georgia putting the points on the scoreboard so easily last night, watching Nick Chubb move to #2 on his school's career rushing yardage record book. That was just an off game for Steele though, in light of his body of work the entire season, so while Auburn could be reeling in doubts about a Malzahn future and Steele's D getting gashed at will on the ground last night, it could work out to be a buyer's dream where Tennessee is concerned. I think Steele could be the perfect DC candidate and an absolute steal if current conditions made him a real possibility.
