thanks.

What hotel are u staying at??

Buckhead is a very nice area..Hubby and I stayed there on a little mini-vacation..We walked around the area quite a bit and felt pretty safe, not many area in Atlanta where u feel comfortable walking around..Good restaurants too, one of them Copelands(serves Cajun food)..Then there was a great steakhouse(the name escapes me)...The hotel we stayed was called(I think) Springhill by Marriott..Very nice.

Sorry don't know any Vol gathering spots or watering holes!:ermm:

Copeland's in Buckhead is closed...moved up to Cumberland and also opened 1 on Barrett in Kennesaw.

There a ton of steak places there but most are pretty pricey.

Fado Irish Pub in Buckhead usually gets a good sports crowd on game weekends. It'll be full of UT, NC State, Clemson, and Auburn fans all weekend. It's about the only place left in Buckhead Village after the real estate demolition/bankruptcy debacle a few years ago. If you're staying in Buckhead, you won't do better for late night drinks/easy cab ride to hotel.

Always forget about them! Good Fish n' Chips there! I watched several World Cup games there back in '10...they opened at 7am for the games. Lots of TVs there.

There's also a Taco Mac down Piedmont at the Lindberg station.

Yeah, Buckhead is a pricey place, but I would rather stay there than any other area in Atlanta b/c of the safety factor.

Will definitely have to remember that about Copelands next time we go to Atlanta..Thanks for the info.:)

btw, how far are those Copeland's from the old one in Buckhead??

Fado also has the benefit of being one of the few places where you can usually just walk out of the bar at midnight and get in a cab right in front without having to deal with getting the bartender to call you one.

I've been a regular there since Peyton Manning was our starting QB. You won't be the first people in there in orange.

You people who worry about your safety in Atlanta crack me up. :D

I used to work with a guy who lived out in Duluth who was terrified to go anywhere inside the perimeter. If he had to go to the airport, he went all the way around 285 rather than drive through downtown, like the bad guys were going to jump him at 70 mph. It's not just out of towners.

It's just funny. I've lived in or around midtown/downtown Atlanta since 2004. The only time I ever had a problem was when I accidentally left my garage door up all night and someone stole my bike; but they left everything else. There's a homeless guy who helps in my yard, and he's a good fellow. It's an urban environment, sure, but it's not particularly dangerous. People act like it's East St. Louis, and that's just ridiculous. :hi:

We saw Trotline play at the Peach Tree Tavern the Friday before the SECCG in '07. It was a pretty solid establishment.
