of Dan Mullen in Knoxville.

* HC of an SEC school, "gets it".
* Has had above average success there.

Thoughts?

I want Fuente, Frost but Mullen would be a good get for our program. I think he'd make us solid and a regular contender for the east.

lets ride... I think he is our man

Mullen would be great here. Been saying it for years

Yes, I am on board.

Love the idea. It's the best most realistic name.
i just thought of this...

but mullen could be to msu football what bruce pearl was to tn bball. i think most agree bruce did a great job here, and got us to #1 for a week or two like Mullen did.

I would take Mullen. he would stabilize the program and would be a competitor for the east every year.

No question.

Thank you for the nice, realistic option for our HC. He would probably be decent here.
For those who are on the fence with Dan Mullen, ask yourself how would you feel if Florida hired him. Would you like Tennessee’s chance at beating them on a regular basis?

I for one think he would be a homerun for Florida especially with all those athletes to recruit.

We (UT) would be fortunate to hire him
I think he will be able to recruit better players to Tennessee than he can at State. This should translate to more wins.

Yeah, no need to bring a proven, winning coach in the SEC to Knoxville. We should probably roll the dice on an unproven coordinator.

Fuente is good to go at Vag Tech.

Mullen might be an interesting hire.

Keep Shoop and bring

Mullen in to develop a qb and run something that resembles a offense and i wouldn't be upset about it.

I'd take him
Would be a great hire

I could go with him.

What about Mark Dantonio??

The fact that Mullen has had MSU in the conversation while the west was at its best tells me he could be really goods here. UT is on another level than MSU and would give Mullen a higher ceiling, same as PSU did for Franklin.

Dino - young - relates - overachieves - wants to take the TN corvette - maybe Buick at this point - and turn corners like a ferrari - the new fun and gun - Art Briles without the baggage

Yeah I think Mullen is the man for the job.

If Mullen can win and go to 7 straight bowls while being in the SEC West with 3* recruits because nobody wants to go to Starkville, he could dominate in the SEC East

Bring me Chip Kelly
Fuente or Mullen for me. If he can compete in the west he will do well in the east. I think he is one of the great offensive minds in the country. It will be much easier to recruit in Knoxville that it is in Starksville.

We could certainly hire a hell of a lot worse! He won the west and I don't think they've been in top 20 recruiting in forever. Imagine what he could do with top 5 classes?

If he's available then YES!

:loco:

Tennesseeduke

I’m ok with Dan Mullen as coach because he has gotten more out of inferior talent and is good at developing quarterbacks, while Butch consistently does less with superior talent and sucks at developing quarterbacks.

Also, considering how he’s had moderate success in the West at a no name school, the East would probably seem like a cakewalk to him.
All that to say this, he will win big in Knoxville. The game nor the stage is too big for him. He’s been there and done that.

Two things, only crazy a$$ fans that have not one ounce of Football IQ think Mullen is Mediocre

Mullen would be a good hire.

Mullen would have won the east twice if he was coaching us last two years and be rolling to his third.

Gruden is not going to coach UT, he likes his life style and being a fan of UT. Mullen........don't know....my son-in-law is a MSU grad, would love to steal his coach :)

Apples and oranges. Surely you know this though.

If not, tell the trees to get out of the way so you can see the forest

Love the idea. It's the best most realistic name.

If we get better than him...which is chip kelly or gruden id be surprised.

If we get worse than him, about anyone else, i wouldnt be surprised at all.

Scott Frost is the only coach Id prefer over mullen. And mullen is more proven.

Mullen is 10x the coach Butch is. I want an intelligent coach with a football mind that knows x's and o's.

I guy that gets more performance from his players than the star values indicate. A guy thst truly coaches 'em up. There's only one guy in the sec that does that. It's mullen.

We've done a helluva lot worse and could do so again. Shudder at the thought of someone like Bobo as coach. He might be our best/most realistic option and frankly, mowed be fortunate to get him.

And what over achievement has Gruden done in the college ranks?

Mullen had MSU ranked number 1 in the country at one point and that is not easy to do at MSU.

i just thought of this...

but mullen could be to msu football what bruce pearl was to tn bball. i think most agree bruce did a great job here, and got us to #1 for a week or two like Mullen did.

it hasn't translated at Auburn for him.

fit matters...while i've defended the notion here about mullen, there is no guarantee it's translate here.

i don't think it'd be a bad hire, and it wouldn't make me mad. but like siap, i have warmed up to the idea of mullen, but i'm not totally convinced either.

Mullen would not be my first choice but I could get on board if he turned out to be the guy.
