starting skill positions in post season?

Anyone on the football team would have fumbled the ball in that situation. That was just a good hit right in the bottom of the breadbasket. Everyone forgets that if the offense had not had back-to-back penalties after Riggs got us inside the 5 on his season-ending run there never would have been any need to run that play. In no way is that entire game Cory Anderson's fault. Additionally, if someone had decided to cover DJ Hall at any point in the game, we would have won. There's plenty of blame to go around for that loss.

All very sad but true.

Alright, I'm not placing any blame on Corey for that loss. I'm just saying I got sick to my stomach watching that fumble again on the 5 or so yard line and lose the game by 3 stinkin' points. If you are a fullback running the ball in that scenario, please put both damn hands on the ball. That's my story and I'm sticking to it...............................

That's my point. Normally Cut wouldn't run 2 TE's unless it was a short yardage situation.

He did it pretty often last year in pretty much all situations. The Colts run a 2 TE set all the dang time. I'd say we'll see it more this season since we have experienced tight ends and inexperienced wide receivers.

heard he was too thin, so he might red shirt this year so he can be physically ready to play in the SEC

Thats what they say, but I have also heard that he runs very crisp routes, and is a true burner. Some have compared him to Marvin Harrison.

If he is 6' 3" and 175lbs he really only needs around 15 pounds or so for his type of body frame. I think that Brett smith had a playing weight of around 190 and he is also 6' 3". If Paige can gain 10 pounds I'd say let him play if he is that good of a route runner with the kind of speed he has.

coker is head and shoulders better than foster will ever be. foster is to concerned with other things and will never be fast enough to play in the SEC. He wasnt fast enough his fresh year our o line was just dang good compared to now.

he's listed at 6'3'' 175 so he could use some weight

Ahmad Paige - Football Recruiting

I remember a true freshman Brett Smith making a huge catch against Florida in 03'. He was listed at 6'3" 175 and I remember thinking that was to thin to see any action that year.

My point is...if he has the skills he will find his way onto the field...especially with the questions we have at that position. The question is...does he have those skills or does he need a year under Trooper to bulk up and learn the position?

:disappointed: foster will most likely be starting against cal. i think foster could turn out to be a great one, but to say that coker is better now than foster will ever be is rediculous

A few points:

Coker hasn't done anything against anyone worth a crap. You can't say he's head and shoulders better than anyone.
What are these concerns that keep Foster from focusing on football?
Our 2005 O-Line couldn't get 4 inches against Vanderbilt.

While I agree that he is not head and shoulders above everyone, saying that he hasn't done anything against anyone worth a crap isn't exactly fair either. He was good when he got touches

College Football - LaMarcus*Coker Player Page

notice his only bad game average wise was against Alabama, and he only had 5 carries

and all of that was with that attrocious O line.

The majority of his yards came against Marshall, Memphis, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky. Only one of those teams had a winning record. All of them had pathetic defenses.

I understand that, but he played well against other teams (save alabama). We just didn't get him the ball much for some reason.

heck, if you take memphis, kentucky, vanderbilt, and marshall out, he averaged 6.4 yards per touch

If you take all the games except the UGA game out, Foster averaged 3 TD's a game. When one of them has sustained success for a whole season (or maybe even the majority of a season) we can say that runner is the solid #1 guy.

Coker had a big run against Penn St, plus caught a 20= yard pass. Against Arkansas he was injured and still had several nice runs. He caught a pass from Lucas Taylor in the Fla game for a long TD. Coker is a game breaker no matter who he is playing against.

To say that Foster is basically no good is just dead wrong. Foster is a different type of back. The reliable grind it out, tough runner, who wins games by getting those tough yards and using his great vision.

Thank you. Coker gets so much hype here. The fact of the matter remains that he broke his big runs mostly against crappy teams, he's injury prone, I dont remember him breaking a single tackle last year, and he keeps getting in Fulmer's doghouse.

He's very quick and can make big plays, but lets slow down anoiting him the next great thing until he actually becomes great.

I wouldn't consider him injury prone. He only got hurt one time or am i mistaken? (knee)

He broke a tackle at the line on his run in the outback bowl

I think he is finally out of the doghouse, but Foster will start the Cal game anyway (I think)

He was hurt his true freshman year. Fulmer stated once that Coker wasn't tough enough to play. That was during his true freshman season, though. Coker has gotten hurt a few more times. He seems to get shaken up a lot to where he has to leave the field every now and then. I know it happened against Memphis. I'm pretty sure it happened in another game, too.

my memory must be pretty bad. i guess i remember him getting shaken up a few times, but i don't remember fulmer saying he wasn't tough enough

It may have just been a motivational tactic. Perhaps Coker wasn't working hard in practice and Fulmer wanted to see some fire in him. I really don't know. Coker's style of play just sort of seems to lend itself to injuries. It's like he doesn't know how to take a hit right.
