Anyone besides me think this would be a primary guy to retain with the way he can recruit? He has a pipeline to Florida and he has helped this current class load up. Thoughts?

Yeah, I want to keep a guy who has spent the last week telling recruits to look elsewhere. The fact his worthless ass hasn't been terminated and physically thrown off campus shows a weakness on the part of the Athletic Department.

I thought that was Brooks. Is it the whole staff?

Pretty much the whole staff has been that way. I see no reason to keep Scott, Drayton or any of the others. Yeah, they can recruit, but they did nothing with the WRs or RBs. They are both sub Trooper. We can bring in guys that can recruit.

This is why when AD's fire a coach, they announce the new one. I don't understand how firing Fulmer 4 weeks in advance without announcing his replacement was good for the program.

If true, I don't know what Hamilton does next. Had he waited to fire Fulmer until after the UK game, then announced the new coach at the same time or a day later, no one on this staff would have been given the opportunity to turn good recruits away.

I realize it's just one class, but still, it was a decent one in the making--and that one class could help tremendously given our obvious talent drain.

This could get a lot uglier before it's over.

what do you want him to tell a recruit?? come to tennessee, theres no coach, no staff, we dont know what kind of system. giles is an early graduate, he has a right to know what hes getting himself into. u guys are a bunch of crybabies. How bout a lil respect for being upfront and honest with the potential recruits. we do things the right way around here. u have to tell a recruit to explore his options. its nice to see that somebody has the recruits interest in mind. he has not done much with his position, ill give u that. but he appears to be a stand up guy and a very good recruiter.

Sometimes it seems like people on this board think a particular coach or player is irreplaceable. Everyone is replaceable in this world. We can find someone else to recruit Florida, that doesn't pout and quit doing his job when things aren't going his way. We can find someone who acts like a professional.

Struck out with Trooper and Drayton

Stan Drayton hasn't been fired and is still drawing a check. Hence, he's a still UT employee. Not a tough concept.

He's still being paid to have UT's interest in mind, correct?

yeah, but u cant really expect somebody to encourage an 18 year old kid to commit to a school in the middle of a massive overhaul. giles was considering decomitting, and drayton told him to do whats best for him. if thats tennessee then hell sign here in feb. if not i wish him the best of luck. u cant have it both ways. i would rather our staff be honest with these kids then lie to them and they end up transferring or not giving there all. drayton is a good guy and hes doing WHATS RIGHT.

I think that some, not all, coaches would not even begin negotiations until it was announced that a current coach was being fired. Thus the reason for the early announcement.

Are you kidding me? If you sell your house do you want your agent working for you or would you be mad if they told the buyer to find another house? This guy works for Tennessee, not Giles. He can still be honest without telling a recruit to go elsewhere.

would you have your 18 year old son move out of state to go to work for a company that u know might be laying people off or going out of business. NO!! u would tell him to do whats best for him, and if things work out right, there still may be a spot for him when the new president is announced. u can not go about lieing to these kids and making false promises. he told him tennessee is the best place for you, but you have to do whats right for you and your family. thats not a hard concept

Stan Drayton doesn't work for Jarvis Giles, he works for the University of Tennessee. If he feels his loyalty is to Giles, let that family pay his mortgage.

Maybe Drayton can quit coaching and become an agent for Giles. Hell, he can't coach and everyone thinks Giles is the next big thing.
