I was pretty dissapointed when the attendance was announced. 96 I think. I know it was Halloween and people wanted to spend time with family and that is a great reason not to go, and I know that part of that is cuz USC returned some tickets due to the rock slide, and heaven forbid it was raining. but IMO there is no reason why for an SEC game NVM the fact it is on ESPN, that the attendance be under 100,000. I know there had to be some people without kids that wanted to go. I can see it for a no name team, but an SEC night game? just my opinion, but with as hard as they play i think we can support them better. Not ripping every1 who didn't go I know distance for some people and money, I'm jus talking about people who are normally there.

Several people I know weren't prepared for the cold and rain when it didn't abate as expected.

You can attribute about 4,000 of that to the South Carolina fans not showing up.

It`s tough out there bro. Give the fanbase time to recover.

I sat through it with my rain gear safely stowed in the car!! I should know by age 43 to not trust a weatherman in this state!! Boy, did I feel stupid.........and wet. I had no idea how much water a woolrich barn jacket could hold.

As much flak as the student section gets from time to time, it has been by far the thickest populated section of the stadium throughout the game all year. Also the loudest and rowdiest.

I've been sitting in it for 7 years (don't ask), and I can tell you it is slowly returning to it's old form that had been missing the last couple of years.

There was a lack of attendance, but no lack of enthusiasm...Neyland seemed almost louder than usual on occasions tonight

Yeah they said it would be long gone by the time kickoff but I brought a rain jacket just to be safe and I'm glad I did. The real fans were there, screw the rest of em'

seriously? c'mon man....the petty "real fans were there" line is annoying.

I was there with my 6 year old son for his first game, we were in the lower section and very wet and cold. We left at halftime because he was starting to cough. Don't tell me I'm not a real fan. Jeez - it's like you people look for things to complain about or knock on.

Halloween with kids
Rough economy
RAIN and COLD
Rock Slides
Ways to get around TV blackouts

Seems all reasonable to me for less than 100...

I've been impressed with the student sections enthusiasm, but why in the world can they not sell all the student tickets? There was hardly anyone in the student seats in the upper level, just tons of empty seats.

My thought on this is like all business situations, the tendancy is to ride a temporary wave and grow just past the steady state until you've realized you've grown too big. I think that's where we are with this stadium. About 10,000 too many seats. We've been putting up excuses for lower attendance at each game rather than recognizing the demand just isn't there over the long haul. Having a ticket should be viewed as precious - that will stimulate interest and demand. Duke is a little overkill with their basketball gym - but they get the concept.

Honestly, on TV the stadium looked bad, with huge empty sections in the south endzone. The rock slide played a roll.
