One guy whose name I have not read or heard mentioned in connection with the ND hfc job is Coach Spurrier. Last year, ND had a slight dip in recruiting but in 2006 through 2008 they had top 10 classes. I have heard people who keep up with ND football say that their biggest problem is undersized linemen particularly on defense. Otherwise, they probably have the talent on hand for a a guy who can coach to turn it up a notch. This seems like the kind of situation where Spurrier could do what he does best and have some instant success.

Seriously, I think that his name still has enough cache that it would satisfy their fanbase insofar as they expect a big splash and he has the knowledge and experience to make a talented squad perform to their potential.

Weis went 35-27 over the past 5 years at Notre Dame. Spurrier owns an identical 35-27 record over the same period at South Carolina.

He's a big name...but hard to justify making him a top candidate in South Bend.

The Visor would not/ should not leave South Calackalacka. He's got it too good, and quite frankly, is most likely looking to hang it up here in the next 2-5 years. Just my thoughts.

No way ND would even give Spurrier a call. Would be fail on so many levels.

In fairness though, ND has more talent than SC. My guess is that Spurrier could coach circles around Weiss.

Even though that would be a BIG circle, I dont think it would be hard to do. I expect the Domers to go for someone who will give them more than 5 years.

Of course, like Kentucky Basketball, they dont really mean it when they offer 3-5 years, so who knows?

No chance in the world that ND even calls him.

If ND really wants a washed up fossil on the sidelines they can look at Lou Holtz. I thought this title was a joke.

Man, I would truly like to see this.
