Spurrier may be ripe for the taking.

Exactly. I'm not in any way defending Fulmer, the program has fallen the last 6 years.

But saying that UT and USCe are fighting it out for 3rd place in the SEC doesn't make CPF or Spurrier look to great does it?

I'm not saying Spurrier is outstanding, I was trying to argue right now he is having more success improving his program than Fulmer... Right now, the best coach on this side of the division is Meyer.

It would be very wierd to see Spurrier sporting an orange visor...But, if Spurrier means winning NC and SECCG's I am all for it..hes a TN native, so its not like he doesnt have any ties to the state....I dont think he would come here but as I said earlier, if he would put us up at the top caliber college football i am all for it...

Not trying to split hairs, but he was actually born in FL. His dad was a Presbyterian minister who moved to Johnson City when Steve was young. I played against him at Tenn. high, and we were the only team that beat them his senior year. The reason he is not so warm toward UT is that they didn't recruit him, even though he was interested. They sent a scout to watch him, but he was so impressed with their punter that they offered him the scholarship. Also UT was still inthe single wing offense where there was not much passing. Spurrier was a good athlete, pitcher in baseball, and I think he kicked extra points too. He was a high on himself jerk back then too!

Isn't that the guy that is 1 game behind TN in the SEC East race?:ermm:

Why in the world would UT even consider a washed up coaching has-been like Spurrier? Maybe we should think about Jim Donnan or Gerry DiNardo too?

Grouping Spurrier with those two guys is not only a dumb comment, but could possibly speak to your level of sanity.

I think Spurrier's SC legacy is well on the way to being written...he wins; he even wins some big games...just not the right big games.
