Well we've had a few days now...and so far seems like things are going OK.
But after reading a few of the articles on govols, some things i p/u on that i thought were worth mentioning...
Pass drills...guys lying flat on their back catching the ball, if the guy catching the ball drops one, then he and the guy feeding the machine do extra exercise....interesting.
little things....getting in to and out of the huddle on time, getting lined up correctly, listening in the huddle etc... they're putting extra emphasis on these things this year...message: IT'S ALL IMPORTANT. If we can't get you to line up right or listen in the huddle, how in the world are we going to get you perform on Saturdays? It's all important folks.
Dress code during practice has been implemented. shirts will be tucked in, no individualistic garb allowed, and during time outs, breaks whatever, units will stay with units. Offense will stay with offensive players and vice versa.
run, run, run is the theme for WR's this season. they're going to be the "most in shape team in the country". interesting.
Offensive line....quicker, faster, "it's up to us to make the running game. If we do our job, then anyone can run behind us."
WR competition. the word is out, smaller starting rotation, and all of them want to be on it. Trooper sounds like he has thier attention. Dropped balls, even in warm ups are not tolerated, dropped balls at any time result in, guess what, more running.
Defensive coaches apparently have a lot to work on.
And finally, i thought it was interesting that the coaches have pretty much said they are not going to come out and give "individual" progress reports. they will give "unit" and "team" reports. And when asked about team chemistry, CDC basically said that we have to develop a team attitude, when one fails we all fail. so in practice when one messes up, the whole team or unit is "punished".
sounds good to me...what do y'all think?
