Some observations:

Considering the quality of the opposition , the opposing coach and on the road one of the 10 greatest wins in Vols history.

Final score was no indication of how bad we beat down the Gators. Except for 2 horrible calls by Stave Shaw the final should have been 48-32 instead of 34-32. One was o n the clip shown where they called Grossman down, other was when Grossman got turned around and threw the ball backwards which should have been a fumble but they called another incomplete pass. Surprising because I always thought Shaw was one of the best head referees ever. Just had a bad day.

Never been a big Randy Sanders fan but once again one of the best game plans and execution ever in Vol history.

Just a shame what happened the next week but still doesn't take away from the magnitude of this victory
Also NO ONE ever remembers we would've won like 55-20 but Jason Witten had his worst game as a Vol having 3 turnovers or else we would've been up 28-7 early

I've definitely forgotten that. I can't even recall it just talking about it. I do recall thinking how are these guys still hanging in the game. In a series of painful memories spanning almost 3 decades this one was a relief. We just didn't do anything with it.

Yeah people used to talk about Sportscenter like it was Seinfeld, Cheers, The Cosby Show, etc. It was easy to watch it several times in a row. Now I'm not sure many people watch it.
You can watch Sports Center recaps from over 20 years ago and actually feel like you just watched the game.

Check out this gem:

No one knew it but at the time but, this was the end of the Fulmer era.
If Fulmer had won the next week vs an LSU team he dominated earlier in the year, then 2008 never happens.

Even if the Vols had been blown out by Miami in the national championship, there’s no way you fire Fulmer 6 years later with 2 national championship appearances under his belt.

I’ve said it before, the 01 SEC championship game and the 1990 9-6 loss to Alabama both cost Fulmer and Majors National Championship opportunities. The 2 most disappointing Vol football losses in my lifetime.

Love the big Jersey numbers! You can see those numbers from Tucson.
I went with my son and a friend of mine. The one and only time I’ve been to The Swamp and boy was it a doozie! My son got several really good autographs on one of those instant posters that they used to print after games with the final score soon as the game was over.

That was an amazing day. I feel like those highlights don’t do justice to the absolute beating Grossman took in that game. Also, if replay had been a thing, I think there were probably 2 or 3 turnovers that would’ve gone in our favor.

I would say that was the most satisfying win I can think of

We got screwed out of two Rex Grossman fumbles that they called foward progression
