It wasn't like that. It was a sarcastic interview. Rome would ask a question that he would usually ask a College Football player and his producer would play a sound clip from Jurassic Park of a dino "Shreeeeeiking".

He also mentioned how the Tennessee season has turned from Bad to down right weird.

I'm about fed up with the sports animal! The Titans are 7-0, and nobody can even seem to find ONE segment to acknowledge it. There is more to sports than the Vols!!! Especially a BAD Vols team.

The hosts & callers just beat the same topics into the ground. Several days after the Bama game, and the callers still talk about it as if the game were last night.

I think the Sports Frog blows as much as anyone else, but to expect anything but 24/7 coverage of UT on any Knoxville radio station in the fall is retarded. Besides, the Oilers have beat a bunch of bad football teams, they deserve more coverage when they beat more than one team with a winning record.

I recently got satellite radio and have stopped listening to the Sports Animal. I just got overly frustrated when listening to the Morning show due to the extreme lack of knowledge on Dearstone's part. He's just an idiot. I wanted to call in but realized it would be about as good as arguing with a four year old. I get my UT information from Volnation, a better source than the Sports Animal.

Jim rome is 3 hours of dead air! How many emails does the guy have to read to fill time slots! He has no sports knowledge at all! Hes a Clown!

I wish the 104.5 in nashville would drop him also. How can anyone stand to listen to hime is beyond me.

Jim doesn't cover every sport in extreme detail because he has such a broad range of things to cover. His show actually uses humor, and caters to a younger listener. The whole show is almost an inside joke. And for the pauses, he is the only person talking on air. He goes 3 hours and takes FEW phone calls. He doesn't have a co-host or "sidekick" to fill in the dead space when he's listening to somebody in his ear or taking a drink of water.

If you listen to Jim talk and conduct interviews, you can tell that he is easily more intelligent than just about every member of the Sports Animal personnel.

Have you ever heard him get "stumped" on a question from a caller the way you frequently hear the hosts of the morning show??

The hosts that take the most calls are the ones that do the least amount of work, according to Rome. Don't forget that Rome also drives across town to do a TV show. The man is accomplished and works very hard.

Contrast that with the sports animal cast that uses the same material, takes the same callers with the same questions & comments, conducts (basically) the same interviews of the same coaches & players as the show hosts that were on air 2 hours before them.

As much as we (the fans) are supposed to "take it easy" on the Vols team because they are not a professional team, the media is inspecting EVERY detail of every aspect of that team as if they ACTUALLY ARE PROFESSIONALS.

IMO, College Football is not an amateur sporting event. It's like a glorified "minor league" of the NFL: **The coaches make tons of $$.
**The best players are gone AS SOON AS THEIR 3-YR RESTRICTION IS EXPIRED.
**The tickets for these games are $$$$$$ crazy expensive.
**The NCAA and the Universities benefit financially (millions of $$) for having a "good" football team.
********It's a business financially exploiting the talents of "amateur" athletes. AND they get a tax exempt status!!!

Jim Rome and Ben Maller, from what I listen to on a regular basis, are the tops of sports radio.

I have to say that Jerry from Morristown isn't all bad. He's had some good points (see: not a stupid question that has been answered before 40 times over) of late.

Of course, Buck Kelso is a legend, even though his act is a direct rip off of mixing 3 parts Will Ferrel's Harry Carrey, and 1 part Roy Mercer he still comes up with some witty stuff off the top of his head.

I have to drop this one in here because it was hilarious to me and really speaks to the intelligence of the callers to some of these shows and well hell just in this and other fan bases all together.

The very first caller of Dearstone's show calls in pissed at the world. He says, "I got on the internet and looked up a list of possible coaching replacements and I can't get behind any of them, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" He goes on to read off the names which was like 4 names. Heather lets him know that the list he read was just speculation and that many other coaches had been mentioned.

Dude, honest to God, thought some list he read on the internet was sent down from the University and was the only 4 guys they were going after.
