Sporting News Top College QBs 2016

Well then you might want to consider rooting for another team cause that ain't happening anytime soon. Our coaching staff obviously prefers a different type of QB.

They chose Dobbs over a QB like Falk. They chose Jarrett Guarantano over Austin Kendall. And it looks right now that they prefer a QB like Emory Jones over Trevor Lawrence.

Whether you like it or not, the pattern is clear. Butch Jones prefers QBs like Dobbs over those like Falk.

Does he? Or is it that Dobbs was the only QB healthy at the time to take the reigns?

Even right now, IMO, Guarantano is a better passer than Dobbs. And when it's all said and done, I think he will surpass Dobbs on the all-time UT passing list.

I think Butch wants a QB who can also pass the ball effectively. Ultimately CBJ has been handicapped by a combination of poor OL play, WR injury issues and inconsistent QB play (specifically passing).

Would you really trade Dobbs for him?

I'm hoping that you're actually not this dumb.

Why would this make someone dumb?? And I didn't see him advocating a trade. You are correct that WSU throws a bunch but he still completed 69% of his passes and it's hard to argue his spot on this ranking. He is an efficient passer which even more impressive considering the volume.

You should really work on maturity. Calling people dumb to express an opinion is disrespectful and not needed.

This was spot on!

Smh.

And you guys wonder why I say what I say about some of y'all hating on our QB.

Stuff like this is just plain DISRESPECTFUL.

Dobbs is the single most important player on our roster. A roster most believe is top 10 in the country and some believe is ready to win a national title.

Yet we have his own fans disrespecting him acting like he's a body who just got thrown in there.

Dobbs is a GREAT QB. Nearly every team in the country would want him. Be appreciative that he's with us. Rather than dismissing his abilities or contribution to this program's success.

I'm sure if Dobbs read some of the stuff y'all post about him on this site, he would be disgusted to hear you say you're also his fan.

Statements like this expose what you really think.

Does he? Or is it that Dobbs was the only QB healthy at the time to take the reigns?

I was pulling for this team when you were a penny in your daddy's coin purse. Never said that I did not want athletic QB's, but, first and foremost they should be proficient passers. I would guarantee that Butch would tell you the same thing. And whoever stated that Dobbs was behind a young man who ultimately transferred, hit it spot on. I believe a couple of posters have forgotten that point.

Look, I like Dobbs, but, he has to drastically improve is passing to be considered any higher than around top 7-8 in the country.

I would like to make a friendly wager that CJ Beathard has a longer NFL career than Dobbs. Wanna bet?

First off, the supposed disrespectful stuff is ALL IN YOUR OWN HEAD.

Second, how dare you come on here and IMPLY that I am, in any shape or form, a racist. Shame on you.

Third, was Dobbs not the only healthy QB when called upon his freshman year? Please prove it otherwise if he wasn't.

And yes, Dobbs has done an excellent job as the QB at UT. He's a special player and will do, hopefully, special things this year. But get off his nuts bro. It's obvious you have a man-crush on the guy.

Edit: I'm still baffled how you deduce I'm a racist for pointing out that Dobbs was the only healthy QB at the time Worley was hurt in the Bama game and Riley Ferguson had a broken leg. Like I'm baffled?! How the hell do you even go down that rabbit hole??

Thanks, but, I deal with some entitled 20 somethings everyday, its really not a fair fight, I win every time. The old battle of the wits with an unarmed person syndrome.

First of all I never said you were a racist. I only said you were HATING on our QB. You're the one that jumped to that conclusion.

Second I didn't make you write this.

Does he? Or is it that Dobbs was the only QB healthy at the time to take the reigns?

You're the one that said the only reason Dobbs is our starter is because he's healthy.

And before you try and spin this, you made that comment in direct response to this post of mine which you bolded.

Whether you like it or not, the pattern is clear. Butch Jones prefers QBs like Dobbs over those like Falk.

You were clearly trying to imply that Butch Jones didn't want QBs like Josh Dobbs as his starting QB. Dual threat running QBs. Your comment was almost like you were saying Butch never even recruited Josh and he was in a way forced upon him because of injuries. When it couldn't be further from the truth.

Dobbs was actually the first QB Butch Jones recruited to Tennessee. Remember Ferguson was already committed. Butch flipped Josh from ASU. So your comment that Dobbs was forced upon Jones by injuries is false on it's face since he specifically recruited Josh to Tennessee from another school.

Second, the idea Josh only started because of injuries is also false. Dobbs was the best QB on the roster in 2014. Butch just wanted to redshirt him. This has been discussed many times. Multiple sources have said Butch wanted to save Dobbs for 2016 and 2017 when he felt the roster was ready to compete.

But unfortunately injuries burned his redshirts in 2013 and 2014.

So then he was the only QB healthy right? Not that Dobbs wouldn't have won the starting spot later. But is it not true that Dobbs was the only HEALTHY QB available at the time? Why yes it was.

And then you stated "you all wonder why I say the stuff that I say." Well what you always say is that we are racist because we point out Dobbs' areas of weakness. Is that not correct? Pretty sure there are hundreds on this board who will support my argument.

Edit: and you were clearly trying to imply I was being racist. Don't act like you weren't. The good thing about message boards, everyone can see what you say!
I'm not gonna argue with you anymore man, you're just way over-the-top. Can't even have a decent conversation without you bashing anyone that doesn't view Dobbs as the greatest QB in UT history

Stop trying to spin your comment. You made it in direct response to this statement I made. In fact you bolded it making sure everyone knew this was the exact quote you were responding to.

Your response was not about the factors that led to burning Dobbs redshirt.

You were clearly trying to imply that Butch Jones didn't want QBs like Josh Dobbs as his starting QB. Dual threat running QBs. Your comment was stating that the only reason Butch even played Dobbs was because of injury. As if Dobbs skillset is something Jones wanted nothing to do with.

Reading that comment, you wouldn't know Butch even recruited Josh and was gromming him to be the QB that would lead Tennessee to championships.

You really have issues with reading comprehension don't you? They have special classes for that you know.

How you get that from our conversation is pure projection. Never once did I say that Dobbs was not qualified for the job. And how do we know what Butch Jones wants? Sure he flipped Dobbs from ASU, but he has also recruited QB's with different skill sets has he not? Guarantano is a Dual threat QB but is also a VERY good passer.

You keep saying Jones was saving Dobbs his freshman year, but where has there ever been any reports that Dobbs was the clear cut starting QB going into his 2nd year on campus? Far as I can remember, Jones was very non-committal to naming a starting QB and insisted it was always a competition.

Throwing every down fools the masses into thinking you're a good QB.

True! How many passes does WSU throw per game? 50-60 would be my guess. I remember seeing the stats from a few of their games since Mike Leach started coaching there. They throw the air out of the football.
