We really need what I love the most: Speed. Fulmer's recruiting as of late was horrible. Did you see the young VT players? They aren't big names but they were great athletes with a lot of speed. Beamer and crew do a great job of evaluating talent and not stars. We got to see that first hand last night.

and that's how its supposed to be done.

those are the sudden burst kinda guys we dont have, and havent had for a few yrs now

#20 for VT is one of the players I was talking about in particular. He would be starting for us right now. Fulmer hasn't recruited speed in a while. When he recruited Gerald Jones as a speed guy I knew we had a problem.

Exactly. Any guy with a good salespitch can go out an recruit the players that everybody else tells him are good. The best recruiters earn their money in identifying top talent that other let slip under the radar.

LOL

I think where it shows up huge as well is our special teams play. we dont get Kick off returns for 6 anymore. we dont get the Punt returns. our coverage teams are a disaster.

Im trying to think, but I believe the last absolute Burner we signed, who's speed stood out on the field vs anyone was Lamarcus Coker.

Watch someone come on here and say Zach Rogers is the answer to our burner questions because he's faster than Coker. Teague is the best WR after the catch that I think we have on the team. He should be getting a lot more touches. Just like the screen pass to Hancock with Teague blocking. I think it should have been the other way around. But I'm no coach.

Hey Lockdown1.... I won't talk about the Rogers brothers if you will promise to NEVER criticize them for drops again, OK? Your hero basically ended UT's hopes by dropping a perfectly thrown ball.

I have nothing personal against Moore.... but for you to sing his praises earlier then take a gratuitous, unnecessary shot at one of the Rogers bros is ridiculous.

I have always felt that way about Beamer. Iowa does that too. They get players to fit their system and they are able to really analyze potential players. That's my opinion anyway.

Actually I really wasn't trying to target the Rogers brothers like that. Was generally talking about how some posters on here have fooled themselves into thinking we have speed and we really don't. Most people point out whenever someone brings up Coker that Rogers ran a faster time. So I'll take back the jab at Rogers for you. What is so funny is that a WR corps made up of Taylor, Briscoe, and the other guy was looked at as being dangerous in the past. What were Fulmer and Co. looking at with these players?

I would rather have had A Rogers in position to catch that pass than Moore.

He also dropped another one later in the game in traffic... you know, the kind that you so roundly condemned A Rogers for?

If you want to talk about a lack of speed, fine... it just isn't necessary to bring your kneejerk racial biases into it. Hancock, Campbell, etc are plenty slow enough for you to use as examples.

I don't like Hancock either. He's a strong blocker but that's it. I don't know what Fulmer was looking at taking these hometown heroes(Maples, Campbell, the others). If he's good enough take but if not don't bring the program down by just giving these guys free rides.

On D, speed does you no good, when you over pursue.

On O, last night we had the advantage.

He's not aggresive enough. I will say he play better against the run last night though.

I dont understand it, he has the tools to be very effective.
Somewhere between HS and this yr, He lost his confidence.
If he just went at it with an attitude of make a play and forget about the last bad play, He'd be a problem

You're right tho, thats the most physical he's played since the UGA game.

why dont we play more tight coverage and blitz like in the second quarter? Evans and Rogan were playing beautifully

He's not even on the team anymore. His work ethic was nonexistent.

I actually lost some respect for him when I saw his facebook status after the game. It said something like" when you do a person wrong you get it back 2 times. I'm from VA. So I guess go VT lol." Completely classless.

Vinson was just another waste of talent. Some of these kids just don't realize the chance that is given to them.
