I just read the "Rise and Shine" article posted under the news links. While reading it, I came to a realization that I haven't yet thought about.

WE HAVE A SPECIAL TEAMS COACH! It was my understanding that under Fulmer, we didn't have a dedicated special teams coach. IMO, our special teams (especially on kick/punt coverage) weren't that great. I'm hoping that Eddie Gran is able to put together some of the great special teams like he did at AU. I'm tired of having to worry every time we are kicking or returning the ball, and I think this will definitely be a step in the right direction.

The biggest advantage is we are no longer doing angled punts....Meaning our Punter does not have to worry about kicking to the sideline. Eddie Gran is about distance and Height. He wants them to be able to get down the field and make the stop before the player has a chance to run. We will be far better on Special teams then in the past.

Yes. The angled punt thing had it's moments. Dustin Colquitt against So. Carolina in 2003(?) comes to mind, but relying on the coffin corner didn't work because it was just too inconsistent. I can't wait to see our kick coverage, with an orange blur flying down the field and crushing the return man.
