Reading through the post game articles in the Tennessean, I saw where Urban "saw something" in our punt coverage that he exploited in James' return. Cal must have seen something, too, as have Notre Dame and Georgia in recent years. Our KO coverage has left a lot to be desired, as well.

So I pose the question to those with a better grasp of kick coverage than me: what is the problem? Is it a scheme issue, a personel issue, or execution? Why is it that we can't seem to do a better job of getting returners on the ground?

I think the return happened because Florida knew that we were keeping defenders back to protect against the block(not the return), so it made us slow getting upfield....James caught the ball with 15 yards between himself and the closest Vol defenders...he had room to see his lane and hit it with a ton of steam...the play was over before he ever caught the ball.

They had a great replay angle that showed our guys collapse on him to the right and he bounced it left.

I guess my question is why this keeps happening. Once, against a top return guy, I can understand, but it seems like there is a major breakdown against every team we play with a good return game. I am beginning to think we should convert Colquitt to wide receiver and just take punting out of our repetoire.

I am not a coach, and I know that special teams have evolved since my last organized football game, but it seems to me that it still requires picking a lane and staying in that lane. It still boils down to discipline and tackling.

Colquitt says that he was supposed to kick the ball out of bounds on Jackson's return at Cal and James' return in Gainesville...If that's the case, he should be benched.

If that is our only answer, then I agree with Cotton. Just move Colquitt to receiver.

on the plus, if there is one at all, Lincoln seems to be a solid place kicker.

Meyer called his punt return for a td before the game.

They knew exactly what to do.

we should just put colquitt behind center on 3rd downs, we don't throw past the first down marker anyway
