I will never get over it!Sorry for the capitalization: BUT IT WAS NOT A CATCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was sitting 15 rows above the field. It was juggled all the way to the ground. By today's rules, it would be incomplete. The only thing about it was that it wasn't 4th down, so the reptiles still had another chance even if ruled incomplete.
Don't apologizeSorry for the capitalization: BUT IT WAS NOT A CATCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe Tom Fisher was one of the two best linebackers who ever played at Tennessee. The other one being Andy Spiva who was also killed in a car wreck in the Atlanta area in 1979. Spiva still holds Tennessee records for total career tackles {547] single season tackles {194} in 1976 and career forced fumbles {14}. I helped recruit Andy and became good friends with his mother. Betty. The formed Big Orange Club in Atlanta was very active and hosted 2-3 coaches every Thursday during football season. At that time we could visit recruits and one of us would take the coaches to the Friday night games they were scouting future.players. I still have fond memories of those days and the relationship which were developed. I still have the Alumni Lettermenās Club plaque hanging in my Big Orange Manās cave. The day in October of 65 when the 3 coaches were killed in a car/train crash in West Knoxville.
Then almost as bad was the day in March of 66 when Tom Fisher and John Crumbacher were killed in a wreck in Benton.
Oops, sorry didnt see the other post. Outside of the Marshall and Wichita State plane crashes dont think any other program suffered 2 such terrible tragedies in such a short period of time.
And he was the only coach willing to give it a chance. Thatās whatās sad, we were in such bad shape as a program, no one was interested. After that guy now at Louisiana State University pulled out early and left a spot stain on the burning sofa, we were a dumpster fire. The day we hired the son of a national championship coach. That son had a losing record at some Louisiana school. Blew my mind.
Was 15 and heard the news vbefore leaving for school. That was the worst. The day in October of 65 when the 3 coaches were killed in a car/train crash in West Knoxville.
