I would personally take Magic over Bird, but not by much. Remember that Magic played with Kareem who is the best player to ever play the game of basketball. That was the reason that Laker team was the best ever. However Bird's Celtics were still close - second best ever and certainly when in their prime better than Jordan's Bulls.

It is arguable which one was best, but, I agree those two were the best to play the game because both could do what the team needed done regardless if it was steals, rebounds, assists, or scoring in big numbers. imo
