Sources: UT Athletics Mulling New Apparel Deal With Adidas

If Adidas gets the orange shade right (and matches helmets/pants/jerseys), keeps many/most of the existing designs, keeps the black outlines/names off the road uniforms and all other sports uniforms, and we get the big numerals back on the football jerseys, I’m fine with it.
I have no clue what they typically do with basketball, but Adidas is in a pretty solid spot with signature shoes at least. Ant, Harden, Mitchell, and Dame all have well regarded signature lines. None of those are UT connected, but would help with the cool factor some... I hope

These were awesome 👀

Watching Louisville baseball this past weekend made me remember when we had those baseball uniforms and at the time I thought they were kinda cool but now I think they are awful. Like laughably awful.

If we go back to Adidas they need to get the general look for our teams. Our basketball and baseball uniforms especially are 1000 times better now and all the teams have a look that looks connected. I'm fine with each team having a sense of their own idenity but one thing I hated with Adidas was each team seemed to have their own thing going and it made it look weird to me. I don't like it when sports teams at schools all look completely different. That's one thing Nike has nailed.

And other than the I think the numbers could be bigger, I think the football uniforms are the best they've looked. Clean, orange is right and matches, we have some alternate uniforms but nothing crazy.

I think you have hit the point. I think the university has found its “look” and will likely keep that in tact, with a new logo on the shoulder. Bringing up bad uniforms from near 10 years ago is somewhat irrelevant imo.

They are considering offers from both companies right now. Still think its 70-30 adidas, but it was 90-10 a few weeks ago. Lot of pushback from retail partners on the potential change.
I still think switching to Adidas would be introducing an unforced error into the situation. I understand going with Adidas would be more lucrative in the short term, but I guarantee you merch sales will take a big hit. Plus, and I know many on here balk at this, but recruits by and large DO prefer Nike, as do most fans. Yes, recruits care about NIL, but Nike schools have NIL too! If it comes down to us and a Nike school for a recruit, if all else is equal, including the NIL money, the fact that one school uses Nike COULD be a differentiator! Do we really want to just hand that potential leverage over to other schools??? If we stay with Nike, the train keeps rolling down the track as always! If we switch, we are possibly introducing road blocks that we'll have to find ways to overcome. Why make it harder on ourselves than we have to?

In your opinion, would switching to Adidas make a big impact on NIL $ to players, or do you think it would be a situation similar to what you described at Nebraska, where a few players might get a 6 figure deal and most of the others would have the option of being a brand ambassador?

say what you will, but in my opinion, these were the best jerseys Tennessee ever had with those huge bold numbers

Is it the jerseys or the players wearing the jerseys and the fact they won a national championship? You can barely even see the Power T on the neck line. On the current Nike jerseys the Power T is a lot more visible on all the neck lines. We are TENNESSEE after all.

It is my understanding that the current uniform designs are done by the UT AD and will continue to be done by the UT AD, regardless of which manufacturer's label is on the jerseys.

They would sign a couple of players to bigger deals, but most would be the influencer variety.

I like the big numbers too. But Adidas doesn’t offer that style jersey anymore. Personally I like Adidas apparel better but the Nike uniforms look much better than what Adidas has to offer right now.

I just think that is way overblown in this era. It probably was 10 years ago too, but it’s even more overblown now.

Any further word out there on where this is currently? We still waiting on Nike to counter or pass?
I checked in on this thread expecting to see discussion on how the tariffs might be effecting what each company can now offer. I suspect whatever each company was promising a few months ago is now moot.

Making guarantees about when and for how much is a whole different ball game now with long-established supply chains disrupted and subject to each country's negotiations with the US.

If there's a change, we might see the new products cycling in on a delayed basis, maybe starting with basketball, and not getting to football until the 2026 season. Not sure how that could be reconciled with the University's fiscal year, but it's bound to be a factor now.

Yeah, surprisingly, most people dont want to wear or sell an inferior product.
Yep, which is why I don’t have one UT Nike product. Of course I prob don’t have 3-4 pieces that are Nike to begin with. Junk pair of shoes I wear to mow grass, maybe 1 dri-fit shirt. I just bought 2 new pairs of Adidas shoes 2 weeks ago. Hopefully they have Tennessee shoes that don’t cost 120.00 that feel like **** and last a year.
