Amazing how the post have changed after giving the guy a chance. The only reason people were laughing is b/c the out of touch media and UT fans didn't understand you upgraded your football program by leaps and bounds and were pissed about it. Don't let Dooley's 09' record fool you, that team had so many injuries to key players it was amazing they did what they did.

One thing that he said last night in the press conference that I found confusing was he said that if he had followed Saban, he might have been a more attractive candidate, but he wouldn't have been as well qualified.... does that mean that he would have been brought on as OC when Saban took over at Alabama? Or does it mean that he likely would have been promoted when McElwain's predecessor left?

I have a buddy from Tallahassee, an FSU guy, that is laughing his head off. He said "why didn't they just go after a pee wee football coach?". But I have another buddy from Monroe, LA that said he's awesome and how he's a great recruiter even against the big boys. And how he almost beat Boise State and LSU. He insists it's a great hire. And for what it's worth says everyone calls him Derek fing Dooley.

He's was just saying that he was better prepared to be a head coach because he now has the experience of being one. Certainly, you're a "hotter" candidate as an assistant to the national champs than you are rebuilding a bad WAC team--but the experience gained with the bad WAC team is something he'd never get at Alabama.

Just think people probaly laughed at Ohio St when they hired Tressel and and nobody knew alot about a guy that was hired at Florida named Urban Tenn will get the last laugh in this:hi:lol::dance2:
