Sounds like Faizon has a big lead on Macintyre going into the fall

Agree, but a large piece of every portal season is who can we get to fill the holes we have. That's money and you won't win with a bunch of holes or thin positions. You just won't.

It's a combo of HS recruiting, that's money based now, and development, that's coaching primarily, and portal acquisitions, money and fit.

As I said, if Sam Leavitt signs at UT instead of LSU, our RB room is stacked, our WR room is stacked and our secondary, really the whole D, looks to be improved and tightened up...... where are the weak spots?

As it is, the most important position on the field is a ??? with a starter with nearly zero college experience. That was almost certainly a money fail for UT.
I get what your saying but I am not sold on Leavitt. Would it be nice to have a solid quarterback with experience? No doubt, but we have 2 young talented quarterbacks. 1 of them has a potential unlimited ceiling. We’re not in a bad situation in the long run. I personally think Faizon is going to win the spot, he is legit. He is just too talented to stay on the sideline long. I was never sold on Nico’s 5 star film, lots of time it was 7 on 7 in pajamas. Faizon’s tape you see it. And this isn’t to say Mac doesn’t have a future but he might just need more time. The 2nd team guy is always one play away. GBO

HS is a long way from SEC and I think Faizon has an extremely high ceiling and hope for the best if he starts, but SEC caliber true freshmen QBs are really not that common.

G-Mac is a better bet, IMO, for this year because he's seen the speed of the college game at least to some extent and the hopefully has a better grasp of the decision making in Heupel's offense.

As for Leavitt, Heupel went for it obviously looking hard enough at him that Kiffin felt the need to fly to Knoxville and seal their deal. While you or I might not be sold on him, Heupel was clearly very interested. I'll trust his judgement over mine.

After that, yes, Heupel chose to pick up what appears to be a "safety valve" QB in Staub so he must have been at least somewhat comfortable with G-Mac and Faizon. Again, I'll trust him.

My strong preference would be to have the QB position not be a question mark two years in row. We've done well keeping the RB and WR rooms resupplied. I'd like a little of that same feeling for the QB room.

Playing approx 10 mins combined against ETSU and New Mexico, 1 game early and 1 game late isn't enough playing time to give him an edge at seeing game speed and with only 9 passing attempts 7 at ETSU and no rushing yards doesn't IMO make you the better bet

Exactly it’s not like GMac is some seasoned veteran out there. GBO

It just seems to me throughout the years we thought we had a great qb and he turns out mediocre at best. I’m not ready to give him the starting qb job. I think he earns that after the season starts and if he is that good you can’t take him out i.e. Peyton Manning.

Three years ago, FSU put probably the best team in the country on the field. Since they’ve won a total of 7 games.
FSU is a white trash school and will never have the money to compete long term with NIL. You might as well forget that. Best to wait and see what Lane Kiffin does at LSU with real money.
Mendoza was considered the 6th best QB in the portal last year. Indiana won primarily on a large # of 5 & 6 year players in a great S&C program.
you nailed it right there. Stop paying 4* and 5* high school seniors all that money and give the money to guys who have proven they can play college football.
The best program in our league in Georgia & they do it basically recruiting
you better take a look around. the last time Georgia was at the top of college football was 2022, before NIL and the Portal really took off. Since then they may have won some SEC games but they are getting trounced by other schools now in the B10 and ACC. Their way is dying.

the schools that win big will all have older heavier and more experienced players, especially at QB.

THIS. IS. THE. WAY.

We might have a Michael Vick 2.0 without the attitude and dog fighting baggage.

It's a matter of realizing the game, even in practice, is quicker than HS. All Faizon had seen until Spring was HS competition and HS speed with a few exceptions of guys who made D1.

If UT isn't significantly better and different from HS in your eyes...... Okay.

And if Faizon is said to be tied with GMac coming out of spring then okay.
There is no way a true freshman should be sniffing a 1yr in QB in terms of being close coming out of Spring Practice.

As I said previously:
we weren't happy with Nico's development, Merk's development, and now G-Mac's development is suspect.......

Hmmm. Just hmmm.

Georgia has won the SEC convincingly the last 2 seasons playing clearly the toughest schedule in the league. You better win this league before you have visions of grandeur beyond that.

He did say at the top of college football, but yeah, they’re still the best in this conference unfortunately

being the best in the SEC no longer means what it used to unfortunately. until we find wealthier fan bases.

Gone are the days that winning th SEC meant winning national championships.

we also screwed ourselves royally by not letting weaker teams into the SEC. we may win the "strength of schedule" battle but that's the only thing we will win.

Not sure there were any "weaker" teams that were ever considered

Yeah right, the sec can’t compete. We will come back to this at a later date. GBO

The same stuff literally happened in the NFL with Milton too. I saw multiple articles that talked about how Milton looked like the best QB on the roster in New England during practices.

Like this one here:

"I wrote after last Thursday’s practice that Milton is the “wow” quarterback at camp— the guy with the best size, best athleticism, and biggest arm. Now I’ll take it a step further: Milton outplayed Maye over the first six practices of camp. You can’t tell which player is the No. 3 overall pick (Maye) and which is the sixth-round flier (Milton),"

I guess this sports writer is a cuck too.....
Owners play who they pay. Maybe was their guy. He's gonna get the nod.

Milton was better than Hooker in practice. My nephew set up the drills everyday and the qbs ran the same drills every day. I am assuming that you are talking about the few scrimmages they had. I am unsure if they slanted any of the scrimmages toward either qb.
I’m assuming QBs still had red jersey on in scrimmage and down on touch
