I am irritated by Pruitt's obstinate approach to QB and whatever the hell allowed him to fire a DL coach on a whim yet keep around OL and QB coaches that appear to be failing miserably. That said, I also don't blame the guy for taking the job, the big paycheck, the unearned extension, and the nice fat buyout when he gets canned.I don't blame Pruitt. He knows no better.
I blame Phil.
I blame Fulmer for all of the above. He never should have thought hiring a coordinator with no HC experience was the answer for a program in desperate need of a stability. He should never have allowed a contract with no mitigation clause to be signed. He never should have doled out a meritless extension after 2 years. Lastly, he never should have been so arrogant as to convince himself that, with his expert tutelage and guidance, he could single-handedly insure Pruitt would be a winner.
Hiring Pruitt was an act of desperation and it wasn't Phil's fault that the preceding coaching search had been such a circus but it doesn't absolve him of responsibility for pulling that trigger either.
