I drive a truck on a nightly round trip between Knoxville, TN and Charlotte, NC. Last night, at the end of my trip, I hear a local CB shop advertising a set of Bose speakers. He knew nothing about them and had no idea if they worked. So, after I parked the truck and jumped in my car, I went back up to the CB shop to check the speakers out. As far as I could tell, everything was there (except the remote), so I paid him his asking price and packed up the speakers and left for home.

Turns out everything works great. Unfortunately, the system was used by smokers, so it smells like a nicotine pit, but the sound is fantastic. An added plus is that they'll work with a cheezy little $7 universal remote that I had laying around (the speakers won't work at all without a remote, thanks Bose for a completely asinine design decision). I might end up getting a lower end logitech harmony since juggling three different remotes is always a pain in the ass.

Ok, I'm sure by now your ADD is kicking in. Here is the speaker system: Bose Cinemate 2.1 Digital Audio System

I might even be inclined to disclose what I paid for them.

close!

I paid $30 for 'em. Guy could have looked online, they're still an active inventory item for Bose.
