Something tells me the, "I had the ultimate fantasy in my grasp but got robbed by stupid adults" story is going to work out better for this kid's confidence than what would have actually happened if it had gone ahead anyway...
As an aside, does the fact that the principal cited "prom guidelines" make anybody else wonder...? Does this mean that there's no problem with normal school policy but those damned prom organizers are uptight? Is it significant that nobody who "stepped in" actually stated their objection officially, just left it up to the principal and "prom policy"? Do you get the snaky feeling that, ironically, the particular people who opposed this are Stern's perfect opposites, not more grown-up?
