Javier Arenas and his play on special teams.

He averages almost 16 yards per punt return and has 1 touchdown.

He averages almost 26 yards per kick return.

He has one interception and he took it back for 63 yards.

In my opinion, keeping him from making a big play will determine the outcome of the game.

Too bad that we normally fail terribly in this department

if all we need to do is shut him down to have a favorable outcome, then we have improved massively in other spots.

His returns (or lack thereof) will determine this game.

I don't think points will come easy for either team. Bama's defense is good well that doesn't really matter because Tennessee's offense is awful regardless of who they play.

Bama loves to run to set up the pass. Well, Tennessee's defense has only allowed two rushing TDs and have done a pretty good job in stopping the run (especially the straight ahead power football that Bama uses)

I just think that special teams are going to be where the majority of points are going to be scored Saturday night.

Our special teams coach by committee is on it!

While the threat of a big play in returns is a concern with our special team play so far, you are very correct in that we still have areas to work on before we are capable of winning this week.

I can see where our special teams and defense could outscore our offense.

I understood, but our team is awful in several glaring areas.

Our perma-prevent on 3rd down, their ability to run it and our shaky special teams all make for huge problems.

Hope you're right Justin.

About S teams coming down to being the difference.

I'm afraid they'll find some big passes to Julio to break things open on us. And we just can't play catch up right now...

Might want to add our inability to run the ball. If we are one dimensional on offense, Bama will put all kinds of pressure on our QB.

Nice that goes up there with the fetal horse package and the opossum package.

I tend to agree JG with your pre game assessment. At the least he may spark/shift momentum which is deadly in the sports arena.

This is not a good thing. We never seem to prepare for this, even though we know better. Look at the Florida game. We knew James was dangerous because he killed us last year. What did we do, kick straight to him... Brilliant!
